If we can close with Walter Nolan, Igbinosun, and maybe another linebacker would be massive. A lot of smoke with Igbinosun but also supposible visiting other big time programs so time will tell. Walter posted the portal is looking good and with him living in knoxville previously and Rodney G we have to be considered a very strong favorite to land him if he really does decide to enter.

Id like to see us sign leaner faster linebackers....or better coverage linebackers... relying mostly on the DLine to control line of scrimmage and stop the run game.

I believe we get the corner from ole miss then we are done until after spring practice. We will more than likely have a 2 to 3 deflections then pick up another portal guy or two. I don’t believe we go after Nolan—he doesn’t appear to fit the culture. There might however be guys after spring that fit.

Walter Nolen isn't currently in the portal.. He did tease that 'the portal is looking good', but he seems to like the attention. Regardless, he wouldn't be able to enter the portal until after spring practice (I believe May 1st) regardless.

Igbinosun, though.... want.

Don’t know if Rodney G wants Nolen thinking wasn’t very impressed when recruiting him
“The No. 1 overall recruit showed encouraging signs as a pass rusher, posting a 13% pressure rate that ranked sixth among Power Five interior defensive linemen with at least 120 pass-
rushing snaps. That mark also led the SEC, which is even more impressive considering who finished in second. That would be Georgia’s Jalen Carter, PFF’s No. 2 prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft.”

He wouldnt think twice about welcoming him home.. lol

He and his family are the definition of malcontent distractions. Definitely talented though.

I dont know them ... only thing people can say that dont know them is awww he had his chance and went to A and M .....Well he probably got paid more than most people will make in 10 - 20 years... so good for him for securing his future. Maybe you truly know them...maybe not...

After the way his recruitment went... and his "drama" tendencies... and that he fit right in on a roster of individuals.... likely means you can't just look at talent or even numbers. Heupel has been pretty careful not to bring cancers into the team or to deal with the ones they had. I don't know Nolen or much about him beyond his recruitment. But that's enough that I would approach with A LOT of caution.

Well, not really. His recruitment was filled with a lot of drama that he and his family generated. If I remember right he kind of lifted his leg on UT and snubbed the staff.

I also seem to remember reports that there were questions including some whispers from within the staff that his prima donna attitude might not lend itself to the kind of work ethic that CRG demands. I'm not saying that I know or that the answer to him should be "no". I'm just saying there could be good reasons to pursue others instead when you're building a team and sustaining a culture.

Yeah i agree as well. I have a close friend who was on the staff at SBA in Memphis and when i ask him where WN was going out of high school his reply..."When you see him suited up in the fall, on the field, making a tackle, IN THE GAME then you'll have an idea of where WN will play...and even then it's not a sure thing". WN seems to have proven that opinion valid. I don't know he or his family so I'm making that assumption based on the comment from a friend. His physical and athletic metrics certainly are impressive however.

Goofy recruitment = goofy player. No thanks.

Why is everyone so focused on Walter Nolan?I never heard his name mentioned much. He may not be as good as advertised. Who knows though, development is key.
Noticed him against Bama this year

Forced a nice fumble where he put his helmet right on the football.

He's big and athletic and Garner would turn him into a monster IF Walter bought in

Yeah, I tend to think that was more a "pay attention to me" ploy. Double-entendre on the word "pay" being intentional.

Maybe it is more serious or a lean, but if that was the case, why now after the window have been closed? And why make it public and not create more turmoil within a program that's seen a lot of it.

I hope we get them both... i think if nolan enters tennessee will 100% pursue him. DL AND OL is a position you cannot have enough of.
