Clowney Had Zero Sacks

He gets hyped up for a reason, he makes plays. He had 7 tackles Saturday which tied his career high but apparently that's not much to you. AJ Johnson had 200 tackles last year but he's at best average & never makes the big play so stats are misleading at times. Clowney makes plays that determine wins & losses & if you're naïve enough to not count your blessings that a few of his hits in the backfield Saturday didn't end in disaster for us then you're even dumber than I thought.

Lol, are you drunk when you type garbage like this, because I want to give you the benefit of the doubt....Did he make "plays" that won the game Saturday? No? Then i guess he ain't the best ever then....You are kind looking like a closet Gamecock fan so please, by all means, get on the Clowney hype train. He deserves the hypesman like Charles Woodson did......:eek:lol:

Wasn't talking about the game saturday exclusively & I hate the gamecocks & Clowney but can easily spot a moron. Woodson did deserve hype too.

I just finished rewatching the whole game concentrating on the tiny- clowney match up.
Truth is tiny got the better of clowney most of the game. As someone pointed out earlier, a good blocking play goes unnoticed, whereas penetration does.
No doubt clowney is a talented beast, but most of his major involvement came off mismatched assignments not involving tiny.
All in all I'm proud of him and think he represented us well.
I have a feeling there is a mutual respect between them now!

Thanks tiny for bringing the fight! Good luck this weekend

2 of his tfl's were before half the first quarter had passed. He was using his 3 and 4 pt stances to fool tiny. Tiny was watching him go outside in the 4 pt, then the next time clowny would line up in the 4 pt he shot inside and got neal. He did fhe same with the 3 pt.

Important difference...last year he caused the fumble that ended the game.

This year he whiffed on the sack on the pass that Worley made to North...you know..."The Catch".

All the difference in the world!

:dance2:

Worley has shown a lot of improvement as the season as progressed. On The Catch play, Worley did a great job of moving up in the pocket and getting some "mustard" on the ball. He is throwing the deep ball much better than at the start of the season.

He did nothing in the game except when we tried to block him with a TE that was when he made the three or four stops for losses or no gain. He only had four tackles and 1 assists. McCullers had five tackles and one assist. I never heard his name called but once in the entire game while Clowney's got called over fifty times.

Was this the tackle on Shaw when the announcer said Vol fans have been waiting 4 years for him to make a play like that .. lol

We ran at Clowney a lot especially in the first half. He seemed to take plays off and that last drive they started to move him around because he wasn't being effective. He was there early but not when it counted. Looked exhausted most of the game. Our D-line was more effective which I thought I'd never say.

This really irked me watching the game early, thought it was a "bad scheme" by coaches .. but in hindsight I realized they were probably going at Clowney early to wear him down for late.

Didn't Clowney have 5 tackles?
4 unassisted and 1 assisted

I don't see how you can say AJ is average, coaches seem to think pretty highly of him.

2011 freshman all sec, freshman all American
2012 all sec
2013 preseason all sec, on the watch list for the Butkus, Lott, Bendarick etc. Awards

So you're right and the NFL Draft Analysts, NFL Scouts, FBS and SEC Coaches are wrong in their accolades, evals, and observations? Think I'll go w/ the latter.

It is strange that ESPN is so hesitant to give the Vols any sort of credit, considering that Knoxville and Nashville are two of the biggest sports viewing markets in the country.

Really? Maybe college football and on a rating type system based on percentage of viewers but those markets cannot be close to the "biggest".

AJs not getting all the tackles he had last year,of course that is due to better D line play

Number of tackles aren't even relevant. He is slow in every way as a D1 linebacker. Can't cover anybody man. Gets lost in zone coverage. Can't shed blocks. Is a slightly above average tackler. Yea he plays hard & he is a vol but it is what it is. He won't make it in the NFL.

i don't worry about the NFL and your probably right about his talent lvl,but he does give his all for Tennesee, you can't argue that :)

it is also great to see so many players giving there all for Tennessee this year, the future does look really bright, thru my orange tinted glasses

i like where CBJ has them playing so hard,I think it is going to be interesting as to how well they play this Saturday,a lot of how good they will do,will squarely be on Worleys shoulders and the line play on both sides

here is to hoping he stands up and has a great game

Good thing the NFL doesn't have you as a scout. Or anyone for that matter.
