Coach Cal and UK

They had already gone from dud to contender by importing John Calipari, who signed a top-flight recruiting class, to go with returning big man Patrick Patterson, the best post player in the country. (They may even get sharp-shooting guard Jodie Meeks back, too.)
Now Coach Cal and the Cats reportedly have John Wall, the top recruiting prize in the country.
Wall will not only step onto UK's campus as the best college player in the country -- he could have been the prize of tonight's NBA Draft Lottery. (Yes: He could have been the No. 1 overall pick in 2009; instead, he will wait a year, but still be the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft.)
It is not even June, and college hoops has its dominant storyline: Kentucky is back. Kentucky is No. 1. Kentucky will win the national title.
Because John Wall will lead them.

your crazy...cal can't win with post players. he has to have the dribble drive and patterson and meeks doesn't fit into that type of offense. you'll be no better than you were last year, gillespie was a much better coach, he was just an a hole.

I think you may be missing my overall point. UK fans NOW can collectively know we have a title "Type" team. Its the joy of the ride over the destination. When you consistantly put togeter loaded teams the long term outcome will be a national title.

UK has won titles with 4 coaches...no other basketball program has ever won with 3.

UK will win it with 5...I cant say when...I am just saying its enevitable. If that sounds cocky it because it probably is but its based on what we know will happen.

UK + great coach+ talent add in the variable of time and the outcome is Championship.

But Championship isnt the only thing. Its having the Aura and the swagger back.....:dance2:
We now are RIGHT there in the title discussions with top recruits lined up again. I think you guys make great points but what we have put together certainly will be a freakshow in a league like the SEC and you can bet we will be a load outside of the SEC and likely #1 seed.

enjoy it...the sec was down last year, but that was because of young players on a lot of teams. you got the cross hairs on you and cal sucks as a coach...he'll do just a s he did in the nba. while at memphis, the easy schedule let them pretty much rest and not get hurt, thats about to change.

See you guys later.....I just wanted to touch base.

I gather from reading this thread from you guys that...

1. Gilispie was a solid coach. (Gillispie was a horrible fit at UK)

2. You cant win BIG with the best class in recruiting history with Patterson (Jr) and Meeks(Sr) and Darius Miller(so.) and 4 other seniors (We will take our chances)

3. UK will struggle (Woe is us)

OK...I just wanted to see what you thought.

Sounds like you missed the point. They will be good, but saying they will win a NC is a lil stretch IMO. Just asking you to please take off blue glasses. Anyone who says Gillipsie is a solid coach is a fool

Does Carmello Anthony ring a bell?

Does UK in the 90s ring several bells.

Like I said in my first post, there are no guarantees. But when you stack talent upon talent and throw in a rock star coach like Calipari who has done more outside of UK than Rick Pitino then you have to like your chances of success.
Bear in mind...UK is a place where titles can be won when the talent mix is correct and its getting ready to happen again whether this particular class does it or not.

But mostly it isnt about the end result as much as gaining back the fear factor and having fun as fans knowing we have a monster at our side.

Its fun again. I apologize for my fellow fans because they are going to REEEEALY be rough to deal with. I will at least give you respect...Yes, I admit I am here to brag a bit.....

What a tool! Are you serious? I said more times than not its a veteran team. I know its not taught where you are, but try reading before posting.

You sound like a Bammer football fan with your logic.

its cool though. Because when Cal doesn't meet expectations in lexington, it will be even better roasting your idiocy. Although, you are the type who will never show your cahones in here again.

i think calipari sucks as coach, especially as a bench coach. ask kansas fans who had the better coach with far less talent.

I said we will win the national title...I didnt say when though. Sporting News has us preseason #1. I will be glad to start there on that quest.

UK has lacked the fear factor since Smith plowed his way for YEARS and we made a bad hire in Gillispie. Winning the title in 98 made Smith complacent and lazy and he didnt recruit consistantly. His style sucked too.

Now we have a guy that can bring the very best to UK every year. Like "You" said, it doesn't guarantee a title. But recruiting lesser talent certainly doesnt.

When it's all said and done, what UK fans covet is the swagger a rock star roster brings and of knowing whats realisticly possible and at UK...Winning it all (NC)with a loaded roster falls within those parameters. Hell, its FUN again to have the best of the best....Now, like you say...we have to bring it on the court.......Thats the part we REALLY enjoy. Ben there, done that...looking forward to doing it again.

We've done it 7 times before with 4 coaches and we are overdue and HUNGRY again.

Its a dangerous combination.

What has Cal done to this point that makes you think he can't meet expectations in Lexington?

Bruce needs a sham-wow, he is sweating gravy, don't worry Bruce, we have to cut a few and may throw a few UK scraps to Ut.

At least we know he can beat Calipari's best teams. He's done it before.

Those teams weren't this talented...John Wall is a lot like Rose and I'd take Patterson, Meeks, Bledsoe, Cousins, Orton, Dotson, etc. over CDR, Joey Dorsey, Robert Dozier...you get my point.

Nothing thus far. Thats why i said "When".

Everyone and their mother knows that Kentucky fans are the most difficult fans to please.

UK fans wouldnt have it any other way. If its not difficult, why bother?

We havent been in 13 Final Fours and 7 National Titles and 3 Runner Ups because we were easy to please.

You don't have a long history of being one of the NCAA's most corrupt programs because you're easy to please either. Your god who won your first four titles won at all costs. Take some time to read up on the 1950s investigation. If you look hard enough, you'll find that your heroes did more than shave points, as if that wasn't bad enough.
