Coach Cal and UK

I'm not talking NBA-potential, but if we did, Patterson would find himself drafted about 36 spots higher than Luke according to NBAdraft.net

In terms of college output, which is where we see guys placed on All-American teams as opposed to All-NBA-potential teams, Patterson's only real competition next year would be Davis - who will be an 18ppg, 9 rpg type stud by season's end.
Even he isn't clearly better than Patterson, however. Anyway you slice it, Patterson is undoutedly one of the top 3 returning postmen next season. He did, after all, average something like 18ppg and 9 rpg while shooting upwards of 60% from the field. I shudder to think what he's capable of with actual talent surrounding him where he won't face double teams on every possession.

As for Wall and Meeks?

Wow read what I said. For college players: Harangody. For NBA potential: Davis and Monroe. Don't get those confused and start talking about Harangody's future in the NBA. In fact, don't even bring up the NBA, because Davis and Monroe will both be drafted much higher. And don't start talking about All-Americans either, because Harangody has already been one while Patterson has not. You apparently did not read what I said at all.

You cannot only talk about returning players if you are going to bring up Wall. Derrick Favors is much better than Patterson. Meeks put up numbers because he had to carry his team, but now that he doesn't have to you will see players that are better. The thing about returning players is that many of them are simply the players not good enough for the NBA, and there are usually more NBA-caliber prospects among freshmen. Wall should be the best PG in the country. But I would not at all be surprised if there are freshmen better than the other two.

Patterson is a 6'8" player with the skills of a 7 footer. He has limited game aside from the back to the basket game. There are more than a couple of post men in the country that I would take over him. Davis is an absolute no brainer and not the only one.

being from memphis i may have a little more insight. he's a pr machine, but he can't coach. his bench coaching skills suck, pearl beat him with lass talent two yeara ago. all these one and done players will find it hard to learn his new system in one year. no one remembers he was average when louisville, cincinnati and the other schools were in conference usa. he only started dominating when they left. besides, world wide wes will be watched a lot more than he was in memphis. cal wanted to see how he could do with the big boys, now he's going to see. remember, memphis did not play a tough schedule, but he knew how to manipulate the rpi. playing tough teams night in and night out is going to be tough, and it will show if they make it to the tourney. cousins doesn't even fit into his system, so he's going to have to work around that. anyway, he's way overhyped. i talked to a friend who's a uk fan and asked him how many losses would be a problem, he said ten.
That's the biggest steaming pile of pipe dreams I've ever seen.

Thats true, we will have a few one and doners. I suspect that if a college wants to win it all it needs the best players. We play seasons one at a time so one and done will fit in. We have 2 or 3 like that on the current roster.

I guess I am bragging a bit but this recruiting class that UK is bringing in is epic, in that it is the higest ranking recruiting class in modern hostory surpassing the Fab 5 and any that UK broght in during the 90s.

I believe we will see a lot of fresh faces every year now at UK, but it doesnt guarantee anything. One thing it does guaranteee though. UK is feared once again. Tubby Smith has officially been flushed.

But UK signing 4 Five star recruits and 2 four stars doesnt tell the whole story. Getting Patrick Patterson back is bigger than any of the signings as he now wont be double teamed. Word is...Jodie Meeks will be back as he wont be selected in the first round and will come back to hone his skills in the Dribble Drive offense. I guess you can see that I, as a UK fan am very excited.

At a time when UK is going for its 4th bowl win in a row (I know, we have a long way to go) UK has battled back and poised its historic basketball program at the top of the heap. We wont be needing 54 from Meeks this time guys. You guys better get ready because We're BAAAAAAAACK.

Signing the 2 5 star point guards and the nations best player (PG) John Wall is just the beginning.

Sorry for the chest thumping but this recruiting class is the best in college basketball history at UK and I guess I just wanted to let you hear it from a Cat fan on how we feel about that.

Thanks for listening.

Nobody's listening to you chumpzilla! He has oversigned by three,so who's out? He will have you chumps on probation before Wall finishes his first year! Wall just got arrested two weeks ago for criminal tresspassing(nice). The squid had the best players at Memphis and played in that weak azz conference and still had a losing record against Pearl. His backyard coaching is his problem,he recruits, but can't coach. So, STFU Mildcat boy!!!!! And bow down to the Pearl of the SEC!!!!!

This thread bears an eerie similarity to the whistling past the graveyard the idiot fringe of Volnation engaged in with their "Saban can't revive Alabama" lunacy.

We're one of their biggest rivals...it's not incredibly odd to go and brag to a rival when you're better than they are.

i think calipari sucks as coach, especially as a bench coach. ask kansas fans who had the better coach with far less talent.

More than Memphis, but Rose is easily the best player from either team.
You're right about Rose and the Tigers had the big game won with three minutes left until Kansas caught lightning in a bottle and the Tiger didn't foul the Jayhawk hard enough to get a foul called in the last ten seconds. Again, Kansas with far less talent..... :eek:lol:

Completely agree. I was just answering the question because I wasn't 100% sure that you were being sarcastic.

The rest of the SEC is simply playing for second place now. This class UK is bringing in is absolutely sick.

Oh well, when we do manage to beat UK once every four years, it will make the victory that much sweeter.

Bruce's worst nightmare just came true.

The old "just wait until football" argument. Love it.

UK basketball fans coming to a UT site and bragging about being better at basketball is like us going to there site and bragging that we are better at football. Not even on the same level.

Are they comparable or not?
