Coach Graham explains why he left Tennessee

Jay doesnt coach the spread. Jay made a professional decision to work with his old coach in Randy Sanders.

Jay made a decision he felt best for his career.

In the end Tennessee was not harmed by his decision and he recruited his tail off for us.

Good luck Jay Graham.

Doesn't coach the spread? Don't mean to cherry pick your post, but as running backs coach he's not asked to " coach the spread". He's asked to teach the rbs how to run hard, protect the ball, pass protect, catch the ball out of the backfield, etc like in any other offense. Ok, sorry, your overall point was a good one.

From the article linked in the OP:

"The most important thing is you want to continue to grow as a coach, more than anything. More than titles or anything. That was important to me, to continue my growth as a coach."

Geeze Louise, people; how old are you guys? He thinks there are more opportunities for advancement at FSU than at UT. Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong; but these are the decisions that we all make in our working lives. Sometimes you feel that you have to close your eyes and jump. With luck it works.

Have you never felt like you were in a pretty decent job, but that you would never, ever get out of your current position, for whatever reason? Were you happy staying there? Maybe if you're three years away from retirement, OK; but in your thirties?

Or sometimes you just don't click with your current boss and co-workers. No good guys, no bad guys, you just don't click.

I say good luck to CJG at FSU or wherever else he winds up, and who knows, maybe one day he'll wind up back here, and he'll be bringing whatever he learned in the intervening years. If this happens, I'd be perfectly happy to welcome him back here.

I don't know if he's expanding his knowledge by being with Randy again. I bet he would advance quicker at UT because we suck right now. He's selling Butch way short. Butch teams are better coached than Jimbo teams.

Geez so many of yall sound like a bunch of whiny little b*tches. And I thought Dooley was the one that built a wall between the program and former players....smh.

Not saying JG didn't do a good job with the rbs cause I think he did. But you can't just give him all the credit for the improved rushing output. IMHO, OL bore more responsibility for that. Spread the credit at the very least.

Finally found a post of urs I can agree with. Let's spread the credit around for the improvement of the rushing game from '11 to '12 a little. CJG, Pittman, Chaney, Dooley all involved in some way in the improvement and deserving credit for their parts. Finally a solid post and shows I'll credit when credit is do too.

Translation: "Coach Jones and his staff were all friends. I felt left out. I wanted better pay and a promotion to recruiting coordinator but realized that Jones has loyalty to his buddies. Coach Jones expects his staff to work really really really hard. I have four kids. I would like to see them every now and again. The SEC is tough ya'll!"

I am ready to move on. We are the ONLY people in the world talking about CJG.

I keep seeing references to cjg not wanting to work hard or being straight up lazy. Where r u getting the facts to back up this assumption? Just wondering that's all cause I've seem to have missed it. Thx.

Well I'll be damned Oskie. Glad I could "finally" compose a solid post you can agree with. Look for the next one in the latter part of July.

I'll let you know when you post one I think even remotely makes sense. 😉😳☺

That's very important to us.

Look at any sucessful college football coaches resume. They usually job hop. Just the nature of the beast.

Thank you for your hard work while you were here Jay, but other than that just business as usual.

So true. The way it'll always be especially for assistants

Graham wasn't ready for Cincinnati coaching....that's about it!

Maybe he preferred coaching in an easier conference , ACC and weak defenses vs. the most powerful conference in the country and trying to get yards against the best defenses this side of the NFL.

FSU doesn't need a good RB coach. After the first quarter, Sal's defense will have the FSU offense in passing only situations.

I don't know, maybe because he made a lateral move with a minimal raise to work at the same position in a pitiful conference.

Yeah, that could be it Volgrl. Good luck reasoning with our boy Oskie though. Typically an effort in futility.
