Disregard if you've never held what you perceived to be a career job, i.e., one that you thought you might be there for your career. CJG IMO had 1 or more of these 5 issues-
1. Better stability with FSU and Jimbo- comfort factor
2. Philosophical differences with new regime
3. Ease of occupation factor- FSU recruits itself therefore easier time on the job having to train recruits.
4. "Springboard" factor- this is an opportunity to get a more coveted job
5. Difference of philosophy

I have 17 years in the military. When given a the opportunity (choice), one or more these played a factor when and where I went next. Pay could have been an issue (combat) in a sweet job (Kuwait), but I turned it down on 2 occasions because I didn't want to hitch to the wrong star.

Reasonable, well thought. No doubt JG fell into one or more of the categories you listed.

Thanks for your service buddy!

The writing is on the wall! He knows Butch and his gang of cronies from the Big Least can't get it done!

UT is a sinking dumpster fire ship! Why else would Tee turn us down to stay with Kiffin and Jay leave us to go pal around with Sal "3rd and 37" Sunseri?

We never should have fired Dooley! 5-7 is the best we're gonna get, guys. Might as well accept it and watch Vandy take over the state.

Fixed my post as I can't add today. You're welcome. Would change Commanders in Chief at times but wouldn't change my career :salute:

Sorry about the commander in chief thing. A lot of us tried to make sure you wouldn't have to endure 4 more years of that sellout. Sorry bro. Again, appreciate your service and sacrifice.

Just my two cents...

I honestly believe it was related to our offensive scheme. Coach Jones deploys and up-tempo spread, whereas FSU utilizes a traditional down-hill pro-style rushing attack. Scheme, combined with reuniting with Coach Sanders were probably two of the biggest factors. Again, just my two cents

For the 1k time..It's not a spread offense, Jones said its pro style with some option packages. I tend to believe JG didn't like the pace and workload Butch is running plus getting the old band back together at FSU.

Thanks Beach! People hear spread and think we're gonna run Urban Meyers O with Tebow where the QB keeps it 15-20 times. The way he's gonna run the spread has much more to do with alignment. Gonna run a pro style offense, power run game, QB will move the pocket, occasional read option will be the exception not the rule. Glad to see at least one other person has read and heard what I've read and heard to this point.

A friend of mine once told me that when an employee submits his/her resignation, the best for that conversation is to keep it short and simple. This article helps reinforce that philosophy for me.

Sounds like the Heath Shuler years. Hopefully we'll be as good as '93!

Yeah, from what I've heard/read, that's a good comparison. Guess we'll see soon enough. As good as'93 would be good... 10-2 I do believe.

9-1-1 in the regular season...on the field. UT then lost to Penn State in the Citrus Bowl (now Capital One Bowl) and the tie against Bama was later ruled a UT victory after Bama was found cheating and had to forfeit....stupid rule forfeiting games that happened years prior, but oh well.

Jay doesnt coach the spread. Jay made a professional decision to work with his old coach in Randy Sanders.

Jay made a decision he felt best for his career.

In the end Tennessee was not harmed by his decision and he recruited his tail off for us.

Good luck Jay Graham.
