Coach "Jake": Freshman QBs are ready?

I hope that one of the freshman gets a series or 2 against USCe, we will need a backup QB at some point this season so I hope when we send one in there he's at least ready to run the offense. I would hate to see a critical time versus Vandy, when we need a drive to seal a win, we put in a true freshman for his first few snaps. (Of course Peterman might be healed by then). I don't care a thing about red-shirts, we need to win NOW and if the backup is a freshman and he has experience, then that furthers our goal of a bowl game and 6 wins looking for the 7th.

I'm in favor of Worley continuing to start for now, but I would not mind seeing a frosh come in. I think the cock game will be close the entire way and doubt a frosh QB sees the field. Looking at our schedule, it may be a while, though I have hopes that we get a big lead on Auburn and one of them can play.

In the meantime, Worley will and should start for UscE, which is all I really care about at the moment.

#VOLREPORT: VOLS GAINING CONFIDENCE - VolNation

I know worley played his best half of football against UGA but could we see a freshman coming out of the bye week? This is the first i've heard that the freshman "have a firm grasp" of what to do. Is he hinting at something here?

Last year Butch replaced his starting QB after a win and a 6-2 start?

I'm glad you're a lawyer, because there are about 15 different people here you'd have to sue for whoopin' your ass for posting dumb threads...

I really wish the freshmen QB convo would go away..

Worley is the man, proved it last week. Now our fan base needs to get behind him and give him the support he needs to keep improving.

Additionally, it's ridiculous to even talk about burning a Red Shirt to pull a functional QB.

This This This.

PLUS, If Worley wasn't doing the job BETTER than the backups, I'm sure he wouldn't be playing. Get behind our QB, stop begging for him to be replaced by another greener QB....

Worley has had two good qtrs in the three games against good football teams. Nothing more nothing less. If he backs those up against USC then we may be ok. That said I would rather roll into next year with a fr qb that has gotten all his mistakes over with and had lots of game experience.

This reminds me of Simms vs Bray, had a bunch of belligerent fans tell those who wanted bray how dumb it was and when it turned out they were wrong you never heard a word from them. Same thing going on now. Kinda like the Doolaid drinkers last year, they did the same thing. I think I'll put my faith in the realist fringe thinkers they are right a hell of a lot more often

Yeah we really won a ton of games with Bray huh? I am sure if you called Jones up and discussed your opinion with him, he will surely listen. Hey maybe he will hire you and rely squarely on your analysis as to who to start?

You have to either be a dumba$$ or blind to make that statement. Probably a little of both. Half his tape was him eluding the pass rush and making an accurate throw or taking off with it when the play broke down...and usually after some Houdini-level, Russell Wilson type escapage.

So it's difficult to compare his top speed to Worley since he's going against HS players in the highlight, but I would assume he is a little bit faster at least.

However, there are 4 distinct pluses that I see Dobbs bringing to the table based on these highlights.

1) He has a quicker first step, and he changes direction much faster than Worly

2) He routinely checks down his receivers while being calm in the pocket (this is something Peterman did not do at all and Worley is getting better at).

3) He moves well in the pocket and has great awareness

4) He throws great on the run, especially running to his right...of course this is his throwing arm.

35+ in every game 40+ in 5 games. Really was Bray/offense that was to Blame huh? Football is a team game and your only as goo as your weakest link. Last year defense, this year qb. Need me to write it in crayon for you?

Ps if you don't like opinions different than your go talk to yourself in the mirror. This is a discussion forum. I'm sure if you called Coach Jones he would tell you to grow up and grow a pair.

AJ would be deadly on 3rd down and in the red zone and is more proven than 2 freshmen whom you would certainly hope are getting a grasp of the offense halfway through the season and after the 2nd string qb goes down.

I think the real question is what would you give up in future seasons just to see the frosh play in this one and what is that worth to you.

How do you know Worley will not be the starter next season or are you forgetting he is a junior.

You gave your opinion, I gave my opinion. I don't like yours, you don't like mine. I believe it is you that needs growing up.

He does all those things almost as well as Ferguson.

It's seems like Bajakian is basically saying that if Worley goes down he knows the freshmen know what is expected from them in the offense, but is still unsure if they can execute in a game.
