Coach Jones to speak before Saban

Saban spoke at a huge event for the Jason Foundation in Nashville last year, and I don't recall any kind of backlash. Maybe the Chamber prez made the erroneous assumption that the idiots wouldn't notice his event like they didn't notice the one in Nashville.

That or the Vols in Nashville aren't irrational douches.

That or or you are an idiot because you dont recognize the vast difference between Athens and Nashville.

Concerted organized effort?...we have some posters venting about a chamber of commerce bringing THE rival coach into the heart of our state to stage a BAMA infomercial. They're getting called on it for the first time in a long while is all...Repair to your bunker and empty the powder charge in your musket...dinosaurs ain't coming to eatcha!....self inflicted twss

I don't believe this even made sense inside your head.

Yeah high profile football players from Athens vastly outnumber those from Nashville, the capitol of the Big Orange State. Let's see there was Hubert & Shazzon & ?

There are more UT fans in Nashville than there are in Athens. And yet... here we are...

Wow! Are you really that dumb? Do you even know where Athens is located? Its size? Have you been there? Think of Fort Payne hiring Phillip Fulmer in 1999 x5

What the hell does that have to do with it? You think this has anything to do with recruiting?

I missed the violent personal attack. That's not cool.....but I can't for the life of me see how any Tennessee fan could think this was remotely a good idea. This is Southern football sir....not ladies soccer & we take it pretty darn serious.

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes my best friend (we had graduated years before) said to his cousin who was in his first year at UT. At the Georgia game my buddy offered his cousin a beer from the cooler....his cousin hesitated, unsure if he should take it. My buddy says, "listen boy, it's gameday....we're about to kick the snot (use your imagination) out of Georgia and we're not sippin' hot tea....we're drinking cold beer, now take the darn (again) beer and drink it". My buddy takes a large swill of beer and says "......and take that freaking (again) bow tie off before somebody sees you that knows us."

To get a better picture of how dumb this is think of it this way. You could make an argument that you would have a better chance of getting away with this in Knoxville than Athens.

According to the most recent census, Nashville is almost 50 times bigger than Athens. Even if all 13,450 people in Athens are UT fans, simple math says there are still many, many more Vols in Nashville.

Cool story, but how does that justify intentionally trying to harm someone's livelihood?

Then why are 4 times as many folks coming to see Saban than showed up to see Fulmer and members of the '98 team at the same event last year?

Exactly.....Nashville is a large metropolitan city. We're talking about small town Tennessee.....right in the heart of EAST TENNESSEE.

Why am I even responding to this bammer dolt?

I know it doesn't. Others do and have posted such. I obviously did not understand your post. Where exactly does the heart of the big orange nation end on a map? Athens, an hour away from Knoxville is in it, but Nashville, less than 2 hours away from Knoxville is not. Is it 60, 70, 80 miles?

I doubt if I can teach you common sense at this point in your life but ill try.

Lets look at the percentage of business done in Nashville vs Athens.

In Athens it is done by people who are much more likely to be Tennessee fans. Much more likely to be passionate. Is a bigger part of their lives, and are much more likely to get very angry about something like this.

So? You still have yet to justify your little boycott.

Either a game is more important than people's livelihoods, or it's not. If it's not, then location doesn't matter. The Athens CoC could be renting out Neyland Stadium to host Saban's speech and it still wouldn't be a big deal.

How about we just let this massive "boycott" play out...if an economic collapse occurs...the governor will intervene...and Butch will do a recovery fundraiser emceed by Erik Ainge that should fetch MILLIONS

So to summarize:

Football is more important than the people who run businesses in your community, assuming your community is an hour or less from Knoxville.

Trust me, I understand your point. But you and I have very different definitions of 'common sense'.

Wow!

I think there should be a formal protest by those opposed. That would be awesome!

So when the Big Orange Caravan rolls through Alabama, Georgia, or Florida should those fans behave like this?

Better yet, until a few weeks ago the Knox chapter of the Tide Club or whatever held their meetings in a UT building! Are these dipsh!TS going to boycott UT now?
