Coach Kellie Harper fired

Yeah finishing 3rd of 14 would have given us a better jumping off point over 4th of 14.
The team got progressively worse even as the schedule got easier. The record against the Top 25 got worse, poor High School recruiting.

vs South Carolina 1-8
vs LSU 3-4
No SEC Titles
No SEC Tournament Titles

Now fighting not to be the best in the SEC but 3 or 4 best. Not good enough.

When you say the schedule got easier, are you considering that we had the #1 SCHEDULE IN THE COUNTRY this season?

Again, we are trying to be the best. We came up short and finished 4th of 14. Which SEC school would fire their coach for finishing 4th?

The explanation that Maria jumped the gun on some unverified

I would be careful If I were you....................Maria is in Charge. If you dont believe it...........ask her.
Whoever comes in as the new Coach will be advised to keep out of the locker room and out of the program!!
Hahaha not. Things change and she better be ready to change also. The program has fallen far enough. It's past time to bring it back

It still got easier

Only 5 ranked teams pre-SEC
Only 2 ranked SEC teams

Same ole mantra 2nd coach. Holley nor Kellie we're good enough. Sweet 16's aren't good enough. That should be a disappointing year not the ceiling.

Folks that want to be first....
So you’re saying that South Carolina, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Georgia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Florida, Auburn, and Kentucky would have fired their coach for finishing 4th, winning 20 games, and going to the NCAA Tournament?

Condolences to the coaches at Missouri, Vandy, Mississippi state, Georgia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Florida, Auburn, and Kentucky…

I think Danny White means business. If you do not get the job done, then your outta here. He is actually wanting to get all Vol programs to the top. He will not settle for less. Best AD i have seen at Tennessee in a long time.
This is what a real AD does. Athletics is a money making machine for the school. You win to attract the donations. He’s managed to get more done to Lindsay Nelson stadium than in the previous 30 years.

Mizzou missed a big opportunity to fire Robin P and hire Kellie

Kelly made too many bad decisions that indicated She was not up to the task . I do wish they had taken South Carolina down, that would have been a feather for her cap. This team was talented enough to make the final four; just never played like it. (well, occasionally)

My biggest fear is we pull a new up and Comer mid major coach or a coach with a little success and no proven record. With the timing of this I believe he has to make huge hire or we are set back.

AD White will hire the right coach. He probably already has, since you never fire a coach until you know who you want to replace them. (Nod to Phil)

I completely understand that. The urgency to get a coach is vital right now. With transfers, etc., teams have to be ready to accept new players. I can’t imagine legally, or even ethically, TN can propose a coach currently still in the tournament. Maybe they can, but I’m not sure.

If I am being honest Florida and maybe Vandy should have retained, the others I would let go. I don't watch their recruiting so they may have help on the way but just off what I saw on the floor this year. You probably could add Auburn to that list to stay. This is kinda fun, wish I could hire and fire like this

Mulkey isn’t leaving, IMO.

Brenda hasn’t won a title since 2006. Hasn’t been to a FF since 2015. Has had a LOT of really good players transfer over the years. And hasn’t been able to recruit good post players. I don’t want her.
Ok, but her credentials are better than the last 2 coaches we had, and Lawson for that matter. Just saying it has to be someone that wins and isn’t going to back down from the 2 alpha females running the SEC.

He better hire a coach who will win the conference next year or this will not go well.
I'm afraid we will have to give a 4 yr rebuild. Not really fair to judge before then. By then though we will know if it's gonna work or not. 5 yr if he doesn't make the hire in the next couple weeks.
