She ain’t going anywhere this year. She did well enough losing by ”reasonable” margins to USCjr to cement the keep CKJH loyalist to save her for one more year.

Look at the poll results. DW will not make a change this year. I predict his move will be a year without a contract extension.

Next year the poll numbers will be 75% fire and he will pull the trigger.

The worst two year average winning percentage of any Tennessee team in modern history (50 years). You have to go all the way back to Pat’s first two seasons to get a worse two year record. If she loses first round matchup she’s gone. Sweet 16 will save her for another year.

Oddly, and tragically, since RJ has been back only Texas A & M and Alabama the first time. Weird.

I think the SEC tourney showing sealed her deal for next season. It will take a losing season next yr to get the ball rolling on a replacement and that may not happen either.

Its going to take a lot of $ to fire a coaching staff, hire a new HC with a buyout, etc. All depends on high a priority D. White thinks the LV BB program is over the other $ priorities. Its not a revenue producing sport.

It’s a generalized statement. When your two-year winning percentage is the lowest it’s been in 50 years, you are not in fact “competitive” as a program on the national level.

If you listen to the podcast, they actually say the opposite. Danny white came to Tennessee because of “The Brand.” He’s shown, at every step of the way, that he understands fully the power of the T. Knowing that, there’s no way he doesn’t fully understand the power and value of Tennessee women’s basketball history and his personality type is one where he takes immense pride in restoring “the brand.” It makes sense he wouldn’t run her off the first few years, but it’s year 5. You cannot take the risk of moving forward for another year. I thought the quote of “it is a disservice to Pat Summit to let this brand continue to die” was powerful. I don’t think Kelli is anywhere near as “safe” as 44% of posters here think she is.

White thanked them on Twitter for the donation. That’s the only mention he’s ever made of them during their time at UT that I can find. Timing is suspect.

I think Coach Harper sympathizes more so with the players because she was a player at this same level, and had great success, and probably feels she let them down by not being able to get them that same type of success. But; I’m hopeful for the NCAA tourney. Let’s see what this little break does for them and see what they can do.

Agree. I feel like they're playing offense now like they did at Florida St, only now also playing defense.

But a #2 on their home floor is a tall order. Sure wish we could sneak up to a 6.

That’s the fools gold argument Kelli used in a recent post game presser - “look at how far we’ve come!” And I agree with her, and you, btw. They’ve come a long way from a month and half ago. The problem comes when we become complacent because she made progress recently, when we have to look at it more holistically. This isn’t a first year coach who struggled with someone else’s roster. She’s in year five and spent half the season “off the bubble and not even in consideration for a tournament berth.” We cannot be fooled into believing where are at is “good” when the larger picture shows a much different story.

I struggle with this...they are still up and down. They played great vs. Vandy, got trounced by LSU, looked uninspired against a watered down TAMU team, played great vs. SC #2, then listless against UK without Scherr, then played great the last two games of the SECT. They are still very up and down and haven't quite gotten that level of consistency. I'm also not sure that SC played at the same level as their regular season finale, and Their offense did not look good in the 2nd half and it wasn't necessarily because of anyting Tennessee was doing on defense.

I personally think that SC is much less of a lock than they were being made out to be, and I think there's a whole bunch of teams that must be liking their chances. PAC12 teams in particular....Stanford, UCLA, USC, Ore State...are all looking solid and other than USC have the size to match up against SC. Tennessee, if they play at their "high" instead of their "low" belongs in the conversation as well, and it really depends on who they get as the #2 seed. Of all of them, I think OSU and LSU are the worst matchups, but they can totally beat Texas and yes, UConn too. I'd love to see them knock of the Huskies on their home floor.

Portal has not officially opened or taken off yet.

Only one HS player in 2024, 4 star prospect Kaniya Boyd. Who most experts view as a defensive stopper and offensive project.

Talaysia Cooper will be available next season as well.

LSU was awful, again it came down to coaching for me. What was that game plan?

I feel like they kept telling Powell to push pace but LSU was getting back. You can’t push pace into a set defense and jack up bad shots.
