genuinely think nothing is gonna be done. i hope, for the sake of the program there is, but sadly she’s gonna be back for atleast another year.24 hours since our season ended and not a peep from Danny White or Donde Plowman on social media even though both have posted on other topics. This is getting serious!!! BUCKLE UP, FOLKS
They all bout to retire geno and Tara rumors every year and they both acknowledgedExcuses. Geno is 70, Tara Vanderveer is 70, there's great coaches in their 70's and I guarantee you'd take either one of those two that continues to kick our butts every time we play them.
but you need longevity. you can’t afford to hire a coach who is going to retire soon and then have to do it all over again. they are great coaches, just not a hire that is particularly smart if you’re looking for the long term solution.Excuses. I don't care if they retire in 5 years if they can get us back on top, then it'll be easier to go get a younger coach. This ain't hard. My point on the older coachs is, they still can coach. They all bout to retire geno and Tara rumors every year and they both acknowledged
It’s not about it they’re good get off your geriatric high horse it’s about have a coach for a future
I will be shocked if more than 51% are initially happy with DW’s replacement for CKJH when the time comes.Ugh fine sorry
But still delusional that those expectations are realistic for a new coach
I'd agree with you about the longevity, but I'm sure most people would take a legitimate run at a Natty every year or other year for about 6-8 years, instead of hoping a young gun can hopefully get us there.but you need longevity. you can’t afford to hire a coach who is going to retire soon and then have to do it all over again. they are great coaches, just not a hire that is particularly smart if you’re looking for the long term solution.
Which is why she won’t be firedI will be shocked if more than 51% are initially happy with DW’s replacement for CKJH when the time comes.
DW seems to look for qualities when hiring not names. From what I have seen as a casual observer, he has went and got up and comers who fit his mold of what he is looking for and not big $$ hires.
Just my 2 cents. Go back and see the nashing of teeth when CJH was hired…..
Vic is a native of Austin, Texas. He grew up there a Longhorn fan. His family lives there. He is coaching in his dream job.Vic took MSU to the final 4 twice. Took a bottom of the SEC team to the final 4 in about 3 years. He was also the defense coach for TX A&M national championship. Remember how in the final minutes of that game he called a defense that prevented ND getting the ball inbounds. I thought of that when Harper failed to have anyone guard the inbounds throw against SC WITH 1.1 seconds to go.

Knowing all that, I'm not sure there is any job under the sun he'd leave Austin for.
Same thing with Kim Mulkey. She is coaching at the ultimate university, among the ultimate loyal fans to one of their own, just minutes from where she grew up. When it's time for her to die, Kim Mulkey will choose to be taken on a stretcher and laid at the feet of the bronze statue of her that will eventually be erected on campus in honor of the state's favorite daughter.
Dawn Staley has been treated like royalty at South Carolina and now her name is synonymous with excellence in women's basketball in that state AND the nation. She'd be incredibly stupid to ever leave there.
Tara Van Derveer is to Stanford as Pat Summitt was to Tennessee. Same with Geno Auiriemma/Connecticut.
All this said, I have read all over the internet folks saying "White needs to pull out all the stops and go get "------------- ----------" (one of the names above), and if he doesn't hire one of them then he will prove he doesn't care about women's basketball."
I mean, how insanely ridiculous is THAT?! NONE of the best of the best would ever leave where they are because they are ALL already in the absolute perfect dream jobs for who each of them are and what they stand for,
OUR person like that, the person who had the perfect job for herself, died a horrific death way too soon. We are never getting her back. That still fills me with sadness. Just the other day I came across the program from her funeral -- and I wept like it happened yesterday.
These other big names that so many people somehow believe White should snap up if he's serious about women's basketball are, where they are now, our Pats -- only still living. They ain't goin' NOWHERE.
