Danny is listening to the LV Mafia, meaning the old guard donors. The LV Mafia wants to give Kellie another season. What a bunch of average Joe’s say on X isn’t going to drive his decision.

Look no further than UK’s men’s program for an example of this. If Mitch Barnhardt based his decision on what fans post on X, Calipari would have been gone the second the clock hit 0:00 in UK’s loss to Oakland. As it is, Cal is coming back for another season.

All of that to say, AD’s don’t base their decisions on social media responses. They listen to what the $$$ people want because they need the $$$ people. This is especially true in a non revenue sport.
Cal has titles kellie has NOTHING lol big big difference stop with the comparisons to save face ITS NOT GETTING ANY BETTER lol

You’re reading rlly deep into this. Just sit back and let it play out. But i hate to break it to you, Kellie will be our coach next year.

If this message was coming from anyone other than me, I get that it would carry more weight. Many here don't like what I have to say about Kelli, but I have twenty years of experience in this industry and I have published academic research on organizational communication in some well known scholarly journals. That doesn't mean anything to you - I get it, but I'm telling you, this is a textbook case study in public relations. It is never a good thing when the AD goes silent and you're an embattled coach.

Don’t misunderstand me. I wanted her gone yesterday. I’m simply explaining why it ain’t happening. You’re free to disagree with the decision that’s been made for weeks now. I disagree with it, but it was made based largely on the big donors input. That’s how practically all athletic departments work.

I knew Pat and her husband and have attended games since the 80's and she would not have suffered most of the fools calling for Kellie's head very well.

Im sorry im just emotional about this change lol this program made me a WBB fan when i was 5 year kid back in the 90's and it hurts the see us become what it is today LOL

I think most think it’s time for a change. Not many is disagreeing with you but it’s not gonna happen. There is like a 5% chance she gets fired this offseason. If she does i’ll be the first to apologize

True, except the existence of the 'Lady Vol Mafia' is greatly exaggerated.

Why would anyone in their right mind put out a congratulatory post right now? The people who are angry will not allow for any positive commentary, and they certainly wouldn't tolerate a positive comment about the team's season. Anything he would say short of "DON'T WORRY, I FIRED HER" will get roasted alive by the people who want her gone. Maybe he doesn't want to make a post that would turn into a lightning rod for negative comments about the team or the program?

I've worked alongside community management for a pretty large company in the past, and I can recall a number of times where we held fire due to the risk of negative sentiment. I understand this is your line of work, but it's possible you might be working backward from expected outcome on this one.

It is not the absence of messaging from Danny White that is the basis for this conclusion. It is the absence of messaging from the entire AD. Donde's tweets rarely reach the same audience as Dannys so she could have issued a tweet. This AD department is not concerned about mean replies. So why have they all suddenly gone cold? Come out and issue a statement of support and move forward. The risk of "waiting it out" versus the negativity festering is a classic case study. It rarely works out in your favor. Imagine trying to recruit the transfer portal right now...

I also do agree, I may carry some confirmation bias here, and I acknowledge that; however I remain adamant that anyone in PR would tell you exactly what I just told you.

I want Vic Shaefer PAY HIM we can outbid Texas i think ...if we really care lol
Okay, Vic is an elite coach so at least dreaming about him makes sense. If Danny White has VC lined up, hell ya. He is in the top 5 of coaches. But firing Kellie in hopes of signing such a big fish would be DUMBER and DUMBER.

Vic is 63 years old and was born in Austin. He has gone home, He's rich and well-paid and has his program humming and commitments to his players and recruits. He is at the point in life where an extra 200K a year does not mean squat. Plus anything Tennessee offers, TX can match in a heart beat.

So, how's about coming back to reality??

Most of the Lady Vols & Kellie Harper's supporters, including me, have no influence or communication with the AD about women's basketball. There is no 'mafia', a term conveniently coined by board/internet trolls.

If there was a large base of wealthy WBB supporters, we would not be struggling for NIL funds.

I dunno man. They're well represented here in this thread.

The likelihood of Vic coming here is about the same as Dawn Staley coming here. Ain’t happening.

I want a change, but I think many folks who want a change don’t realize that we can’t pull the ol’ “back up the brinks truck, baby!” strategy and expect to land whoever we want. With that being said, I firmly believe we can get a good coach, a better coach that we have now. It just isn’t likely to be the huge name that some are convinced we can land. This reality could possibly contribute to some of the hesitation to move on from Kellie.

last I'm going to say on this tonight is this. If you're the AD and you're keeping her, there is zero reason to delay getting that message out. The transfer portal is open, and we all know how reliant we are on the portal right now in wbb. You don't keep Kellie and then kneecap her by allowing speculation to fester. You support her. You support the program. You do both of those things publicly so that the path forward is clear. Anything less and you're setting her up to fail even more... and that's not cool, or fair to Coach Harper, her family, the players, and the program.

LOL well i don't think she lied tbh LOL but shes fine where she is definitely not missing any sleep over them picking Kellie. Shes in the S16 facing UCONN for a chance at the Elite 8 as well as a chance at the #1 Recruit in the country Sarah Strong. WTH has kellie done >?
I’m pretty sure Kara was not interested in the UT job or any coaching job when Kellie was hired.
Kara was pretty tight with Phil Fulmer at that time and I always understood she could have had the job if she wanted it.
Earl may have better insight into that than I do.

Eh I think he’s resigned to giving her one more year and knows it’s gonna be a mess either way.

The idea that Kellie's spot was ever in jeopardy is fan fiction. Not one hint all season that the UTAD was pondering a change, As per Holly's final season, those considerations were noted by the journalist covering the program, Tweets that "some people say" are just click bait. If Kellie were in jeopardy, Cora Hall would not be writing about what Kellie needs to do for next season. Kellie just got back to K-town and I am sure that she and Danny White will have a confab about what bench marks have to be met next season. We are just past 24 hours from a tough loss Some organizations are just more deliberate in their PR statements.
