Okay madtown,, i learned something from youYou don't seem to understand how Universities work. Across the campuses of any major university, you will find many, many grad students who recieve tuition waivers and stripends for serving as teaching and research assistants. Nobody expects them to teach their classes or run labs for free just because they have a tuition waiver They provide net value to their Universities. College athletes are no different. They invest inordinate amounts of time in their sport, bring in fans and $, provide invaluable PR to their school--how many times did you hear about the U of Iowa before Caitlin clark? Plus, athletes get excoriated on social media when they have bad performances (though that never happens on this board . So, yeah they have a long overdue right to earn some income for basically working a full time job on behalf of the University while also going to school.
Sorry but the schedule is not the problem. We need to upgrade the program. SC plays everybody and so does UCONN. And so did Pat. It prepares you for March. We don’t need the toughest schedule but having a few against ranked teams is good, it lets u know right away where we stand. But like I said it all depends on our roster.
He’s lucky. Unfortunately with opioid addiction theft often funds it. The book Dopesick is an unbelievable look at the opioid epidemic and the Sachler’s (sp) role. It will infuriate you.
Actually, I need to check. Sachler role could in
Empire of Pain. I read a couple of books on this. I’ll confirm when I get home.

On reading your post.
If u think that is all they do…. I can guarantee P5 athletes spend MORE than 40 hours a week on their sportIt's not a full-time job--and they're getting a free college education in exchange for 2.5 hours a day. A very valuable benefit. This idea that they should be paid like professionals is total nonsense. College football and basketball sports are popular; their popularity has nothing to do with specific players. Sure, Clark has gotten a ton of publicity--but she is a complete one-off. Fans are going to watch college football and the NCAA BB tourney no matter who is playing.

It’s not just 5 days like u and your lazy a$$ weekends..More than 8 hours a day? Please. That's nonsense. This whole idea that we have to do more for student-athletes who are already getting FULL, 4-year-scholarships plus other bennies is total BS. Seems more of the social-justice idiocy that permeates these days. Give us free money.
I love Beth Macy! I think she wrote Factory Man as well. About the disappearance of furniture manufacturing in the US (particularly NC). Her background as a newspaper reporter really sets her books apart in my opinion.Dopesick (Dealers, Doctors and The Drug Company that Addicted America) by Beth Macy is a great read concerning addiction in America. In typical Hollywood fashion, the HULU Series by the same name ventured to far from the factual book for me. Macy's follow-up work Raising Lazarus was unfortunately pushed to book stores too quickly but still a good read.

It’s 7 days a week all year. They also have to watch their diets Train watch film serve 24/7
Give me a break u have no idea what it’s like for high level elite athletes
Some sports are even worse like gymnastics
When the 1970sI was a student-athlete at UT, Ace. They aren't practicing, etc. 40 hours a week. Total nonsense. Watching their diets? Yes, that's called eating meals--like everyone does--no work involved. They're getting a huge benefit in the form of a free college education. I realize that doesn't mean much to freeloaders who'd prefer cash in their pockets.
