Coach Martin named co coach of the year by Blue Ribbon

It's just a disclaimer saying these aren't the official SEC coaches or media awards.

These are the official BLUERIBBON awards tho and will not change.

Hell, I could name off my first and second teams and call it the official Who-Dun-It awards. Still doesn't mean squat compared to the media and coaches selections.

Awesome! Also, Maymon got second team! Both were well deserved. I'm sorry for the bad question, but this isn't the official SEC coach of the year award, is it?

If it is, then that's even more awesome!

no, i just checked sec sports. they have not released the official all sec-teams or coty yet.

No

The regular season is behind us and the Southeastern Conference tournament awaits, so it’s time for the second annual Fast Break All-SEC awards. As always, we remind you that opinions expressed in this space are those of the Fast Break and not necessarily the SEC or its member institutions.

Everyone just be patient. Jimmy Hyams will tell us all who won the official awards just in time for the start of football season.

Here's one vote for Calipari

Mar. 05, 2012 11:37 a.m. CBSSports.com
"Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings, still butthurt from the Tennessee loss, said he voted for Kentucky coach John Calipari for SEC coach of the year and said he deserves consideration for the national award as well. Stallings cited Kentucky's 16-0 record in a “tough” SEC and a 30-1 overall mark as why Calipari is deserving of the award."

I might have added something to that quote. :)

Really? I didn't notice anything amiss. :)

My apologies if this turns out to be wrong.

No problem. Just didn't want people to freak out thinking this was the official lists release by the media and conference office. Blue Ribbon (if it's the same one I'm thinking of) is a publication put out in the preseason similar to Athlon, Lindy's, etc.

I knew it wasn't official sec, but I figured maybe try had gotten a leak on the list.

This is definitely not official. The headline from the SEC's Facebook post reads:

"It is definitely awards season in men's hoops. So, we asked our own Chris Dortch to break out his 2nd annual "Blue Ribbons SEC Awards". Who did he think were the league's top players and coaches?"

Only an idiot would think this is a real award.

While a great nod, it is not the official awards. But Blue Ribbon is a big enough operation to get the word out there on CBS sports and other big media outlets. Kudos to Martin.

Not taking anything away from CCM, but how can they not give COTY to the guy who finishes undefeated in the SEC? It's not even a question when it comes to the official voting, but CCM is the only other coach worthy of being named a co-coty. He did a hell of a job and am proud to have a guy like that on our side.
