Curious, does anyone thinks this affects recruiting? Players knowing Coach Martin doesnt have a contract?
I have come to really like Cuonzo. I feel that some if not most coaches would be making a stink about this. I get the feeling he would be willing to wait until after this year to sign a contract, because i bet he believes he is going to do some winning. He's making 1.3M but with the talent hes got coming back, he will be making much more than that this time next year.
I'm glad coach Zo finally has a legit contract! (Racist imo) I am really glad he is our coach, and I'm as excited about this season as any!! I really want to know why it took us so long to give the man a contract.? GBO!
He should definitely be top 10, that's not debatable. Tennessee is a top 5 SEC job, and should pay accordingly, he puts butts in the seat and had a successfull season, no way he shouldn't be top 10.
I hate to say it, but attendance was pretty weak. I mostly blame it on the angry and ignorant fans, but that was definitely expected. Still deserves a top-10 salary for sure, but I don't blame UT for holding back the big bucks at this point in time.
Even though a lot of us really like Martin, we have to remember he's only coached one season. It's been said a million times, but if he can land at least 2 great recruits, and put together a 20+ win season, then we will definitely be in business with Mr. Martin.
Attendance was weak? We were top 5 in attendance for regular season one again.
Day and night difference from an announced 17,000 attendance in 2012 than in 2011.
The numbers are never close to accurate to how many bodies are in seats.
I mean, it's nothing to scoff at, and we'll always have our inflated announced attendance numbers, but yes, attendance was comparatively weak from my experience.
It's how many tickets are sold, sometimes all those people don't show up. Same reasoning why when it's a sellout you still see empty seats, all anyone cares about is how many are sold. Martin did a good enough job to sell enough seats for us to be top 5 regular season attendance.
Did less people show up, maybe, but that really doesn't matter the school still made the same amount as if those people showed up. That's all the schools worried about is selling tickets, if some of those people don't show they could care less, it's still money in their pocket.
True dat. I bet this season will be better though. As I've said before, it's really nice that it seems like most Knoxvillians have opened up to Martin, and they seem to be willing to support him now.
