Coach Pearl is a Volunteer

One ingredient Bruce has in abundance is passion. I've yet to see passion from Cuonzo. If he has it, he's keeping it suppressed for unknown reasons. Ya gotta have passion to compete in the SEC.

Not everyone expresses passion by screaming and and jumping around. It's just human nature.

Cuonzo is not a fiery guy. Most successful coaches aren't. They are cool and composed. When Coach Keady says someone is "The best leader" they've ever coached. I think leadership and passion go hand in hand. I'll defer to Keady on that one

I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Annual Weigel's Family Christmas program this past Saturday at the Salvation Army. Weigels sponsors needy kids each year and buses them from the Salvation Army to the Kmart on Broadway to spend $150 on anything they want for Christmas. When I arrived at the Salvation army at 7:45 AM, there stood Bruce shaking hands and mingling among the children. When I arrived at Kmart at 9AM, Bruce was there ready to help a child shop for Christmas gifts. When I left at 12PM, Bruce was still there! As far as I can see, this man has absolutely no alterier motives for doing these things. He does things like this very often! I hope Cuonzo succeeds, and I like him. However, Bruce is still the man and he is a TRUE VOLUNTEER!!!

P.S. It really sucked watching us lose to PEAY after rubbing shoulders with Bruce all morning. I really wish I could 4get Bruce ever coached here because it still stings!!!

But he is a snake. He is a phony. He is a cheater. He is a lier. He is a horrible person. He painted his chest. Blah, blah, blah. There is something wrong with everyone who likes him. They are Pearlophiles, Pearlites, idiots, etc, etc. etc. Blah, blah, blah!

there's nothing wrong with people liking him but there is something wrong with thinking this show-cause is just a break in his employment as UT's coach

I think he meant in terms of rebuilding a program, but I am only inferring.

Martin rebuilt a program?

99-00 22-10 MVC Regular Season Champs NIT
00-01 13-16
01-02 17-15
02-03 17-12
03-04 19-14
04-05 18-12 NIT
05-06 22-9 NIT
06-07 22-11 NIT
07-08 17-16

08-09 11-20
09-10 24-12
10-11 26-9 MVC Regular Season Champs NIT

Seems as though Martin was holding par for the course.

11-20 to 24-12, 26-9... I don't see one year with more than 22 wins prior to CCM going there. Do you?

It looks to me like he had the 2 best seasons the program had had in the last 12 years and they were back to back. Seems he actually made the program better!

I think the question we need to ask is what does it mean to rebuild a program? Maybe our philosopher posters can help us discover the true meaning of this concept. I always thought that it was morally reprehensible for a 5 year old girl to marry a 50 year old man, but apparently some of our more esteemed posters have discovered that it is not the case.

22-9 is a better record than 24-12. 26-9 is good; however, it was not good enough to warrant an invite to a 68-team NCAA Tournament field (probably because they had incredibly weak schedules the past two seasons: 101st in 10-11, 113th in 09-10; 56th in 06-07, 54th in 05-06).

Like I said, Martin did nothing spectacular at Missouri State. He held par.

I take anyone's opinion who supports child molestation with a grain of salt.

I hold IQ into account too.

Bravo poser. You lose, you bounced your e cred to the curb. Hop on back to the Power Rangers and free porn sites please, and leave debating to the adults.

The Weigel's/H.T. Hackney connection could provide the main reason Pearl 'volunteered' for the event.

I'm a poser because I don't think that Pearl will be rehired by a school he was fired at for violating NCAA rules....interesting thought.

I wish he would have volunteered the truth when the investigators came to town. Anyone can play Santa Claus. This is a complete non-story.

All the props to Pearl for his work with charities. He is a very special person. But his days at UT are done. We need to just move on and support Martin during these early difficult years.

... and if coach Martin doesn't work out, that doesn't mean Bruce is coming back either. He had is time at Tennessee and the time has passed.

The only coach to EVER get another head coaching job at a D1 school after being given a show cause, is Bozeman and that is at.......... wait for it.......... Morgan State.

I do think Pearl could get another job eventually, but it won't be at a big name school.
