Coach Prime

The game changer is that a coach game in and effectively replaced the existing team with his players and had success. Effectively 90% of the team was cut. This may become more of a trend in the future.
Most places wont have as terrible of players as Colorado did. Upgrading that 90% is possible. At other places you wont be able to get that many upgrade replacements.

So he ran off most of the players that won 1 game and brought in good players from other teams.......How did anyone doubt this was gonna work? Dang Genious and watch other coaches try and replicate this when they take a new job now.

Again. There are very few schools where taking the scraps from other teams will actively improve your whole roster. Deion was correct with his assumption that it would work at Colorado but they are an extreme example. Also about the only coach with the personality to actively pull in that many qualitytransfers. .

I think very few coaches have the charisma and probably NIL backing that Prime brought to completely clean house and be successful. I don't think we'll ever see that again.

And I'll give him credit for the win that he wasn't supposed to get. Few teams come out on opening day a 20 point dog and win. It's a good win if folks will look at it honestly instead of just hating Prime's personality.

I still question that his seemingly loose coaching style, his "player's coach" mentality can maintain the discipline needed to COACH successfully.

It was a good win but now he's got to corral a bunch of kids who may think "we got this" when the season just began. I've seen the Prime side, but now let's see the Coach side.

I could see it happening somewhere like a Miami or Nebraska. A program with money/fanbase but that has been down for a long time.

Possible. Nebraska could be a possibility in the near future with the way they are. Also perhaps a bad team in a rich Power 2 Conference: Rutgers, Maryland, Vandy, etc.

However, lighter change overs are possibly. In some ways, there was a little of that change over with USC Trojans and Lincoln Riley.

You've got to have a fan base that will tolerate a coach coming in running off most of the team.

I can agree that Nebraska SHOULD do that but a coach as brash and arrogant as Prime at Nebraska just can't work.

Miami, I can see it. That fan base might really appreciate Prime and his personality.

It's the "dark side" portal approach. Instead of the players being the ones who jump, Colorado hired a coach and let him basically toss kids in the portal.

If the players can be mercenary about playing and leaving, I guess the schools can be self serving about making them leave.

It's ugly though. Both what the players can do and what Colorado did.

And he's still a disrespectful clown. People who support him ain't any better.
Disrespectful to who?

If you just hate him, just say it....

None of this other BS.

Be honest. He's a talkative, arrogant, successful person that's African American. That's reason enough to NOT like him for a lot of people.

Personal feelings out of the way, winning today was an accomplishment.

Step one was getting the players on one roster. ok
Step two was getting them to play like a team. that happened today
Now, we find out if he is the real deal.
If this team wins 6-7 games, he is in the running for coach of the year.
They just beat one of the better teams in the BigXII.

I only saw highlights, but the defense does not seem to play on the same level as the offense.
Shedur Sanders appears to be the real deal, too. I expected him to be more of a work-in-progress. They will face 4-5 better defenses this season. We have a lot to learn about this Colorado team.
Will their WRs look this good against other P5 defenses? I expect them to take some beatings from several teams.
Next week the Buffs face nebraska. Matt Rhule should be the better coach, but the Huskers suck.
They are definitely an enigma.

Doesn't seem to be any middle ground here. You either love Colorado, and by extension Prime, or you hate them...and by extension Prime.

He's a controversial character, no doubting that. But here's what I think most of us have overlooked...

The 2023 Buffs team in no way resembles the 2022 version. Prime flipped the roster. The whole roster. So there's that...

...and then we have TCU. I said it last year, and I'll say it again. TCU caught lightning in a bottle. What was the NC game score again? UGA, 65-7. Against the #2 team in the nation, right?

They beat TCU by 58 points. Their biggest MOV all season. For comparison, they beat Vandy by 55. In Athens.

TCU did not, and does not, impress me. Here, Prime and I are in agreement. Overrated. Big time.

I'll stick to my prediction. He's gone in 3 years, one way or another.

As for CU Football? I can see 8-4. Or 6-6. I'm leaning towards 8-4. Huge improvement over 1-11. COTY type stuff.

But there's one thing that we have all overlooked about Prime, from his days at FSU to his days at CU.

He's all about him. No matter what he says. Watch what he does. And when his star starts to fade in Boulder, or another job shines brighter, he will bolt for greener pastures. Zebra can't change its stripes.

Oh, and he can't tackle for s**t. Never could.

So he's gone in 3, and at least he'll leave CU with a better roster.

An issue that I am very, very glad we don't have to worry about.

Go Vols.

In the Big 12 (where Colorado was) defense has been optional for years.

TCU had a decent offense but their defense was 1-ply. That's just how they roll in the Big 12.

I don't like to listen to Prime but I don't like to listen to Saban or Belichick either. If he can coach, I'll put up with hearing him now and then.

If he can coach. One win, even an upset win, is just one win. He'll be seeing Oregon and USC later this month. If he takes out one of them, he'll have my interest.

To be fair, TCU beat pretty strong Michigan team to get the "pleasure" of having GA curb stomp them.

A Michigan team that wasn't weak. At all.

Just be fair about what TCU DID do last year.

Just like USCe beat UT.

One game does not a season make. But it could ruin it.

TCU caught almost every break until they got to UGA. 65-7 is no fluke. They don't make flukes that big.

TCU was overrated. Again, UGA beat them on a neutral field by 3 more points than they beat Vandy in Athens. I get the whole "transitive properties" argument, but still...UGA completely exposed TCU. Simple as that.

Without looking it up, who lost the 2013 Super Bowl?

In 10 years, that'll be TCU. No one will remember how good they almost were.

Go Vols.

I think the most common issue is Deion makes it about himself. Always. His post game press conference was all me-me-me.

He has the receipts. Talks up his qb and brings up it's his son, couldnt just talk up his son, let his son have a moment, nope has to bring himself into the conversation. Takes a minute to talk about how HE was doubted. Not the team, him. Did he talk about playing a good opponent? Or call out the good play of a TCU player? He doesnt have to be humble but he shouldnt be inserting himself into positive thing he has to say.

Yeah he proved this game, but I will be interested to see how much he comes up in a press conference if they lose? I doubt he spends as much time then pointing out coaching mistakes, clock mismanagement, bad judgement calls.

TCU beat 4 or 5 ranked teams to get to beat Michigan. Perhaps you just don't want to look and admit that.

GA beat the hell out of them. They made a statement. They were better, not just a little better A LOT better than TCU. Is that what you want to hear?

Both GA was a lot better than TCU and TCU was not a bad team are correct. I'm not sure why you can't see that.

It’s only considered “whining and complaining” to people who have crowned him as Saban already
No. It's whining and complaining when the obvious success is ignored while whining and complaining. He will never be Saban.. Literally nobody could be. That's quite a stretch to make.
