Coach Prime

I think he's not a problem for Colorado since they're still selling out or near selling out home games and getting TV exposure they'd not get otherwise. He's good at bringing money for the school and Boulder and exposure for the program. Colorado had nothing to lose so it's like someone getting out of an awful marriage and getting divorced then going away to the beach with some guy in a flashy car tossing money everywhere. Who cares? Is it going to get worse? It didn't.

That said, he'll be bored and done when his kids and Hunter leave. He can easily take a TV gig, Prime and Nick have some chemistry in commercials and might have someone create a "niche" show or segment for them.

Most NFL franchises are too smart to hire Prime to a substantive position and he's got too much ego to not want some power.

As for FSU, it really depends on what kind of NIL resources they'll offer whether Deion would be interested. Colorado was one thing but expectations at FSU, even as bad as they are, would be for a real program with real wins over real competition. Prime is a lot of things but a competitive ACC football coach? I seriously doubt it.
Good points. He is making them money and bringing notoriety. He can get by with the con (not being a top flight coach) at a program like Colorado but might not want the spotlight at a place like FSU where championships will be demanded. But I can’t imagine him being happy living in Colorado long term. NFL? Depends on if there is a desperate owner out there and there’s more than one of those.

The ACC is on the par with the Big 12 so I don’t see why he wouldn’t have FSU competing for the playoffs. He’d have more resources there and have an easier time recruiting

Personally I don’t think Colorado is going to have to worry about it much longer when Shedeur and Hunter leave. He might be FSU’s or the NFL’s problem soon.
First off, If there is anyone in Colorado who wants Prime gone they are really silent.
Secondly, Colorado is already trending on a 5 star QB flip.
Third this thread is a gem of crow pies. Colorado is developing players and fair or not the fact they will have quite a few guy drafted this year will only help.

They are a prime portal destination, pun intended. Against all rumors they have more than 3 players a lot more. They have 4 WR's that are likely to make NFL rosters one way or another and improved their draft stock. The same is true in their secondary. Colorados offense is not a man show against all rumors....Most of Shedurs 24TD were thrown to NOT Travis Hunter. Wester, Sheppard and Horn are all big threats. Horn and SHeppard will almost certainly be drafted and Wester likely a UDFA. Their Secondary has some players those who haven't followed wont know the names of.. but you know who has NFL scouts. Silmon-Craig, Hodge, Green. They also have some young guys coming up.

We are at the point where folks saying Prime is not a good coach are looking really dumb. Anyone saying he is destined for the hall of fame is also not in the right state of mind. He is the right coach in the right place at the right time. and he is proving he can do well there. From the Day he stepped on campus they have shown steady improvement. That cannot be argued. last year they got more wins and even their losses were VAST improvements over what Colorado had seen for the last DECADE.

Now they are legit contenders for a conference title. I would say they are 50/50 to make the championship game and they would throttle BYU... their biggest problem is Utah which is the remaining roadbump in their way. Utah just got robbed of a much-needed win against their rival BYU.. and with 3 games to play against three of the better teams in the Big 12 need two to make a bowl. Utah is on a down year but has a solid team.

No matter if they make the title game or not Prime has already put up the second best record at Colorado in the past 19 years. They are more likely to win 9 games than not. Since 2003 Colorado has won more than 6 games 3 times. 8 in 2004 7 in 2005 and 10 in 2016. Saying Prime has not turned around CU is like saying CJH didn't turn around UT.

He and FSU aren't on good terms and haven't been for yrs.

Nobody can argue he hasn’t turned them around. Going .500 is a “turnaround” versus
1 and 11. With two dynamic players like Shedeur and Hunter, they should be beating the caliber of teams they are playing. But let’s not get too carried away. The Big 12 is a joke. Colorado’s best win (UCF) is not in the top 30 in the FPI and most of their wins aren’t in the top 50. When they beat someone of note, let me know. Right now along with BYU, they are the tallest midgets in the midget parade and that ain’t bad. It’s certainly better than where they were and we can agree that they wouldn’t be there without Deion and his kids.

First off you're trying to combine 1 and a partial season to make things seem to work out for your goal post moving and still fail. His record at Colorado is actually currently 11-10
His first season they went 4-8.
That is a huge turnaround from 1-11 especially when you look beyond the record. They went 1-11 in 2022 and the only close game they had was their singular win. 7 points and it took overtime for that. they had one loss by 8. . The other 10 losses were all 10++++ points. In 2023 yes they lost 8 games.. But they were literally in all but 2 of those games. That is a big move

This season they are currently 7-2 and should easily win 2 of their last 3. they could realistically win 10-11 games. Make whatever excuses you guys want. Everyone was they will never win.. then they win and they said they will not win more.. then they did.. now its they don't play anyone. A bad team is a bad team. most of the teams they are beating this year are the same ones they lost to last year and the year before and the 10 years before that.

Prime put out a roadmap and so far what he has promised has come true. Does not matter what excuses you have when you said he was wrong. Saying they should win becauseof 2 players shows a lack of knowledge about the game of football. You could put the 2 best players in history on a bad team and that team will still be bad. 2 guys cant win you games alone. Hunter is a CB a cover corner at that.. he's not making tackles at the LOS and he can only cover his area of the field. CU has 4 WR's at or near NFL roster level. All 4 of them were brought to CU by Prime.. All the players he is winning with are his guys. He cleaned house and everyone said it wouldn't work but it is so now they are making more excuses.

And before you get on the BS train. I do not think Deion Sanders is a great coach. I do not particularly like him personality-wise. But he has brought results everywhere he has ever been in his playing and coaching career. That is laudable. He has done it and the only negative things people have on him is dumping water on a butthole reporter and all the manufactured crap from misquotes and taking things out of context. He's not out cheating on wives, getting arrested, or doing anything but being a lightning rod.

Why can't people just admit they might have been wrong and move on? Even if they lose every game the rest of the season this one has been way beyond anything anyone should have expected from any coach in that program.

Pimo, you’d be better served timewise not to spend it on more sermons. Not going to read anything that long anyway. I agree with the
basics of your argument that yes, he has turned around that abomination of a program but that’s it. What I said above is the best compliment you’re going to get out of me about Neon and that’s all I’m going to say on the subject. Carry on if you wish.

Wow. You seem really invested in Deion/Colorado's football team. That's a little strange on a Tennessee fan site, but nothing wrong with it, I guess. LOL.

Are you from Colorado or something .... or just a Deion fan?

Because of how much you have posted on this topic, and the unabridged nature of your posts. They are like dissertations.

I can't imagine just being a casual observer of Deion Sanders/Colorado football and taking the time to do this on an internet message board forum, which is not specifically designed to discuss either of them.

For some reason you became defensive when I said that you seemed invested in Deion Sanders/Colorado football's success, and asked why. There was no reason for that. I meant nothing by it. There is nothing wrong with being a fan of either/or both. As a lifelong Cowboys and Braves fan, I loved Deion as an athlete.

I’ll give credit where credit is due, Deion has won more games than most people expected BUT he hasn’t beat a ranked team yet and won’t get a chance since the schedule is so weak.
It looks like they will be playing BYU in the Big 12 Championship Game, which should be interesting. I could see that game going either way.

I did not become defensive.. I pointed out you'd obviously not read my post as I addressed it there. But good try on the redirect.

He’s just pointing out how wrong some folks were about Deion’s ability to turn around CU’s program.

CU exceeded expectations this season after they were left for dead after barely beating NDSU.

Barring a complete collapse they still make a bowl game, which hasn’t happened in Boulder for quite some time.

Don't mix the question of whether he has had success at Colorado (yes) with whether he's likable (no), or a good person (no), or aggravatingly arrogant (hell yes).

And then, don't mix the question of whether he has had success at Colorado with whether he will continue to do so.

Especially with NIL and the portal, the past is no longer prologue in NCAA foosball.

I find Deion to be likable and arrogant at the same time. Those two qualities just got Trump a second term.

I’ll leave you with your opinion on him being a bad person. I don’t know him that well, in spite of meeting him back in the late 80s.

Whether he’s the long term answer for CU remains to be seen.

It's not the content of his posts that got my attention. It's their extensive depth.

When I think of Deion Sanders, I think of his incredibly long and graceful strides. He would show an extra gear, after you thought he had already shown you his extra gear. Fastest football player ever... with the possible exception of Darrell Green.

Bad person in the sense he's arrogant so a bit redundant. I've never met him so for all I know he's delightful.

I'm biased as a Gator fan. Back when I was there Sanders tortured us pretty good and his having never gone to class seemed to be a badge of honor for the 'noles. So, doubly aggravating.

Being a really good, albeit cocky football player who didn’t go to class doesn’t necessarily make you a bad person, a bad student perhaps.

You don’t like that Deion was a Nole and he tortured us in the 80s. I get it.
