Everyone should listen to this. True class on Deion’s part.

He has built a team that surpassed expectations. But he is far from Michigan, or even Florida State for that matter. He will have to rebuild this team year in and year out. What he’s done so far is very impressive in year one, but a lot of that was Travis Hunter and his son. Let’s give it 3 years before we anoint him an all time great.

You mean, it was done by the media. Without ESPN putting his face on kids screens across the nation everyday of the off season, he couldn't have 86 new players of their caliber. Look right now. They have people believing Colorado is a title contender for struggling to beat 3 really bad teams. They will be exposed the coming weeks and Neon will change his tune. Watch that finger turn around.

I get sick of the constant Deion media attention and I wasn't a fan of his post TCU game speech with him calling out the media and playing the race card. Now with all that said overall I like him and like it or not he knows how to play the media and the hype train. Colorado, yes Colorado who went 1-11 last season is getting more national publicity then the likes of Bama, Texas, USC, Notre Dame and everyone else combined by 100. He's elite at recruiting and connecting to young guys who will want to play for him and the Hollywood environment he's created in Boulder of all places! He will win and win big at CU and continue to get the players and media attention. Can you imagine being a Buffs fan last season and now every weekend Game Day and Big Noon show is at your games and celebs are wearing CU gear. My only hope is that if he continues to coach in college that he stays at Colorado and doesn't spurn them for a bigger job. In all honesty oh I'm not sure where his "Show" would translate too....FSU is the obvious choice for all the known reasons but I can't see him at a Bama or some school like that....maybe I'm wrong?

And you forgot that Gerald Mincey would have gotten a "have a good day" from the CU police rather than a citation.

Warren Sapp was a hell of a player, not sure I'd want him on my staff tho..

Perhaps but the showboat antics to me outweigh the upside. I've been reading all of this ridiculous speculation that Florida might try to hire him. I think there'd be a revolt amongst the alumni so loud that it would never happen.

UF wouldn’t hire Deion for two specific reasons, the most obvious being his ties to FSU.

Yes, and specifically his having played for them for four years without having been to a single class in at least some of those years.
What???? I'm shocked! FSU was treating players like employees instead of student-athletes?!?!

That couldn't have been happening at any other football programs! 🙄

This is why Deion is going to get a lot of people fired.

This reason is no longer valid in today’s college football.

Most everyone’s recruiting classes are going to look like this from now on.

I used to have a 2/3 rule. If 2/3 of a class panned out, it was a good class. That’s dead and gone. If 2/3 of your class is still on campus in 2 years, it was a hell of a class
Deion is coming back to reality come this weekend. His best player travis Hunter is done for the year and his cfb career w his injury last week. They should have lost to CSU. They about to lose the next 2 and the next 5-7 games.

Don’t bet the house on that. (Unless you prefer apartment living.)

Prime didn’t know the name of his starting center when asked in a presser. So there’s that. I’m not sold on him yet

It was a different time. And while I have no delusions but that players from other schools, including UF, certainly routinely cut classes, Sanders is reported to have had years in which he did not go to a single class.

Meh...we’re 35 years removed from his playing and not going to class days.

UF isn’t hiring a Florida State guy regardless of his past academic issues.

It would be a roadblock but not sure I agree we would never consider an otherwise qualified candidate just because he went to/played for FSU. There are certain players who we complained about at the time as not really being college students that we would never hire, Sanders being one of them.

Again, I am not claiming we had anywhere near perfection on our own side of that ball. Its just the ones who touted any semblance of being a student-athlete and/or who were as abrasive as Sanders that I think we'd never consider.

Well, he wasn't there to be a student. Many, many, many from that era weren't.

It's just kinda silly for someone who probably lived through the Urban years to say, "OMG! They cheated! He wasn't really there to be a student!"

And I'm a long way from being a Deion fan. Great athlete, annoying human to listen to. He knew the only assignment at FSU that mattered for him was on the field and that's all he did for them, pretty much all he's ever done for them.

I’m curious - aren’t coaches supposed to have a masters in something or other to coach at the college level? (At least one academic level beyond what your students/players are there for)

If true, that must have been quite a masters program he went through without ever having learned to do college-level work.

That’s news to me if it’s true.

how is they losing to Oregon and USC coming back down to earth? No one with any sense would have expected them to win those 2 games even with Travis Hunter. The fact they have 3 wins and were ranked 3 weeks is a win in and of itself from a team that won 1 game last season. The rest of their schedule is very rough probably one of the roughest in the nation but they still likely end up bowl-eligible and that my friend is an accomplishment no one outside of Colorado locker room would have expected preseason.
