Coach wearing more and more black gear

I do not have a problem with using alternate uniforms once a year. If historic NFL teams can do it multiple times a year we can do it once a year. Plus, it pumps up the crowd. I still think the black jerseys helped us win that South Carolina game.

80k fans a few years ago at the SC game, disagree.

And that black looked retarded with the orange pants, think how crazy it would be with all black Unis with metallic helmets. It would be epic.

What part of "orange-and-white-are-Tennessee's-official-school-colors-and-have-been-since-1891" do you not understand? UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics - Fans

We have one of the most uniquely recognizable color schemes in all of college football, largely because of OUR distinctive shade of orange. The combination we donned for the South Carolina game looked better than I had anticipated, but to concoct all black uniforms is just plain boring. If you stand by your statistic, by all means run a formal poll on VolNation. You can't get 90% of the contributors to this forum to agree on hardly anything.

My only DeerPark question is if the possible alternate isn't going to be known until the day it debuts or if it's gonna be common knowledge throughout the season

If it happens, it would be announced prior so retailers could have replicas ready to go.

If we make a bowl game, we would likely have some kind of small change or slightly different look for that, special bowl unis are something Adidas has really pushed the last couple of years.

Additionally, expect UT to participate in the breast cancer awareness movement one game this October with pink accents (socks, wristbands, etc), which is something every other Adidas school has done in recent years but that the previous head coach refused to be a part of.

Calm down jimmy, we aren't asking for a complete color change. We are just asking for some crazy unis once and awhile every couple of years. You people that are against alt. Uniforms act like we are trying to change the uniform permanently.

And as for tradition.....Tradition hasn't cared much the last 5 years.

You personally may not be guilty of doing so, but pardon me if I don't accept the strident advocates of black-on-black at their word. We have had this, ahem, spirited debate on the old, gargantuan uniform thread ad nauseum. An alternate uniform is one thing but absolutely marginalizing our traditional colors is something that I adamantly oppose.

Having long followed the previous thread and occasionally contributed to it, I can tell you that the strident advocates of black-on-black typically don't like an all-orange look or orange uniform pants for that matter. I don't know whether they would favor a Tennessee orange helmet with white Power T; that concept really wasn't discussed that often. Nevertheless, we have one of the most distinctive color schemes in all of college football and it is precisely because of that shade of orange. Tennessee orange isn't for everyone; it is undeniably bold. For those who find black-on-black empowering, cool, or intimidating, I simply and profoundly disagree.

I'm glad we are going to participate for breast cancer awareness month. I know many of you have expressed that you were glad that we didn't previously, but it is something that I am close to and happy to be an advocate for.
