I don’t think so purely because he flat out says in his post (paraphrasing here) “lots of smoke and the media heads no nothing, including me”. So to say he’s caught up in the misinformation, I’d have to disagree with. I think he’s reporting what he’s heard, or at least what Orange Throat has heard. Similarly, it’s close to what Fumbles has shared. Making me wonder, could be the same source??It seems Basilio's error is probably believing all the smoke screens.
If Danny White is using misinformation to smoke out the leaks in the AD office, we're going to hear a lot of things that simply aren't true. Totally made up. If Basilio is sweeping all those things into his basket and treating them ALL as true, he's going to end up with a laundry list of "failed offers."
In reality, White has been on the job coming up on three days now. Half of Friday, the weekend, and now 6 hours of Monday.
I think the truth is, he honed in on the top option very quickly, and has been at that top option ever since. I think there have been discussions with Backup Plan A and Backup Plan B, but of course those triggers wouldn't be pulled unless the first shot misses.
Meanwhile, maybe Basilio is caught up in the misinformation.
I’m talking Volnation as a whole. Are you a Vol fan? I am too. That would make us both, conspiracy theorist, nut jobs as well!!Please don't lump me in with the conspiracy nut-job crowd. I was just answering a question. I spoke with some friends who attended the game, and they did not see him there.
Could Stoerner be Basilio?I don’t think so purely because he flat out says in his post (paraphrasing here) “lots of smoke and the media heads no nothing, including me”. Edit:
I do agree I think White has zeroed in one target and making that guy say no. But that doesn’t mean others haven’t at least be talked to and they’ve said not interested, which is why I think his comment about lots of people saying no is more along interest than an offer.
I think that is the way this has to be analyzed. Who commands that kind of salary? Just as importantly, who commands that salary and might turn it down??That narrows the field substantially.See, $8M/year for 5 years doesn't even sound Campbell level to me. Campbell would come to Tennessee for, say, $5M/year. At most $6M/year.
No, $8M/year is a Bob Stoops level number.
To me, at least, that's how it seems.
He doesn’t have an agent. I think he manages himselfI'll say it again, Campbell is making 3.5 now, and he is not one that chases dollar signs. he leaves that to the agent. IF he wanted it... that is a HUGE IF... he would do it for as little as 4.5 i bet, but the agent would go high, and you would wind up around 5 is my guess.

No coach is offered the job unless they are going to say yes.Take a look at Basilio’s new blog post. He claims we’ve offered a nice sum to a few coaches, all have said no. He also said several others said no, but I took that as “not interested” instead of no to an offer. Claims the plane was also in Myrtle Beach (Chadwell) over the weekend, but not sure how true that is. He did make it seem like a hire would be soon. However, it worries me at the pessimism I get from the blog when it comes to people saying no.
Hopefully we hear something today or @Stoerner Fumbles has an update by mid-morning. Fingers crossed we get this right. I’m tired of drinking to drain my sorrows on Saturdays in the fall, I need celebratory drinking back!
