Coachery

The #4 AD in the country is not looking at a list with Kevin Steele and Sonny Dykes.
I'm hoping it don't come down to that. With all the rumors of the Campbells and Franklins turning us down. I'm thinking he brings Tony Elliott or similar type hire. Who knows, maybe it'll work out. I would just like us to have a proven coach for once. I mean, has UT ever hired one outside of Neyland? Jesus

Majors. The most accomplished coach we’ve ever hired.

Elliott is possible. A guy in the coachery thread says he’s hearing it will be him...don’t think I believe it’s done yet though.

Yeah but what can he do with lesser talent? Can he effectively lead while the program is under scrutiny? That’s my only question but with that being said he’s a better pick than Dykes, shoot I’d go after sumlin or rich rod before him
Can he surround himself with great coaches? Can he allow them to do their job? Can he handle the job and expectations that will be thrown at him? Can he develope talent, can he recruit outside of Clemson?

Everyone will be telling us how he will implement the Dabo "system". I can see it now

Just a quick thought on White and his previous HC searches. IF the leaks of the first choice saying no is true, White didn’t get his first choice (Neal Brown) at UCF last time either, or 2nd (Kevin Sumlin) or 3rd (Elliott), yet still made a very good hire in Heupel.

Just because the first guy MIGHT have said no, doesn’t mean White still can’t find a very good coach to take the job.
True, I think we're just ready for a proven guy and sick of the wait and see approach

Absolutely..
I mean if you’re a coach you are either going up or going down in stock. Any coach that comes here and struggles for 4-5 years could see their next opportunities shrivel up. Why come here and damage your rep, if you have better options?

We need someone like White that wants the challenge. But some of these posters would be a hard NO on Neyland, because he had no head coaching experience. If new coach doesn’t get us to 8 wins (even with sanctions) by year 2, people will call for his head.

Agree. Playing UGA, UF and Bama each year is a big deterrent just in itself....not to mention the state of the program at the moment.

If we are down to Fisher, Dykes give me Fisher. Hell give me Joe Brady our Elliott but don't walk Dykes in there or you just as well walk Schiano in there. DW should be able to get Frost.

Honestly even if it’s Dykes, he has raised each spot to at least 8 wins by season 3. It’s not like he has Steele’s bad record. 22-14 isn’t bad at SMU

Yeah, I am sure you would have been OK with Dykes after you guys fired Richt.

Im good with Brady myself, but again, He's never been a head coach before, and the "headcoach or bust" crowd will have to reconcile that. White has access to pretty much every available coach in the country tho.... so, everyone is a candidate at this point, as a coach searching fan base, we are back to square one honestly. We need to reevaluate who we are eyeballing at this point.

Of course money is "not" an issue until we overpay an "up and comer" at 4-5 million instead of overpaying an experienced head coach. It's very simple. You find your targets and overpay them at 10-11 million a year.

This would be typical of UT. Get to #3 and then do it again in three years.

“Coffee is for closers.” Champions don’t let #1 get away (see Mal Moore 2006). You MAKE it happen.

BUT. We don’t know for sure yet. Is this White fellow worth his salt?
Is he Kennedy or Kennedy Jr?
