What rankles is that we all know Bruce would have taken this team into Wichita and kicked ass. He built his reputation at UT on knocking off ranked teams even with underwhelming talent. Conversely, Cuonzo is becoming known for just the opposite; taking a talented team on the road and getting his hat handed to him. With the roster we have now, getting excited about this team should be easy. Unfortunately, there's no excitement to be found, mostly because of the "leadership". Mediocrity does not inspire me to buy tickets. Cuonzo's days are numbered.

Totally agree---Bruce beat Kansas with a short bench and less talent than what CCM has currently. I know this ain't football but this season seems to be starting off eerily like last. Even if we get hot like we did last year and real off a win streak---this loss is a bad one on the résumé.

Martin was not chosen over Marshall - not sure where you got that. I think Marshall might have expressed some interest a while back while at Winthrop - or he might not have.

Just curious if this same level of criticism would be happening if the loss today was on the road to a BCS team that was ranked #8 and #12. (seriously just curious)

it's not about the L. I said that before. It's about the lack of adjustments, looking flat out scared and confused on offense, and a last 10 minutes that looked like one good coach coaching against one that had a stroke and zoned out for an hour.

This times a thousand. I said the same thing, I can handle the loss, its the way we lost that bothers me.

A similar, but less talented, UT team beat the core of this Wichita St team (final four) last year. This was a winnable game.

Memphis guy...it is about horrible LATE GAME coaching failures...again. Not getting the ball in the right hands in key situations. I saw that so many times last year. See this is where Martin's failures originate. That is where games are won and lost...Coach Marshall just absolutely outcoached the guy in the last 5 minutes.

martin is not going to bring ut a ncaa title...... period. he has had enough time to get things going but we hit a wall and he can not get the team over it.... so if we keep him we will not see the ncaa tourny. so let's cut our loses and replace him for a better couch

Not saying that Martin going to get it done, but no coach in our history has led us to a title. That is not the criteria.

Anticipation for other teams move and preparation for other coaches moves is nonexistent. UTEP's triangle and 2 and Wichy St's 2-2-1 press say hello. Should take one timeout to make a plan to get defenses out of their comfort zone and he and the entire staff have shown to be incapable with basic changes. Seems like their is one asst that can pass him a note or something. Why have 15 coaches and help if they aren't doing anything.
Oh, I forgot. They are keeping stats instead of coaching. Wonder if our top rated offensive efficiency was good tonight. With just a handful of offensive rebounds, pretty sure it's another stat that was just proven to be bs.
Sparty's eyes=3. Stat suckers=0.

We rarely make adjustments to take teams out of what they want to do, we just try to beat them at their game. Which makes a ton of sense, though a lot of posters agree with this philosophy.

not really. year #3 with same lack of coaching seen as year 1, vs. year 1 coaching with a bare cupboard against the team playing in the NC.
Not really comparable in the least. People clamoring for Butch to be gone are foolish. People questioning CM's coaching abilities and looking at the possibility of another move are on point.

The only loss I will blame lack of motivation on is the Xavier game . We played well today until the last 6 minutes then we kinda gave up
