I bet you think Steve Fisher should be in the top 10.

Since those wins of his at Michigan were vacated then no. Donovan has never got in any trouble with NCAA and runs a clean program. I wanna see how many coaches can take a team to the NCAA after losing their top 6 players from previous year. North Carolina couldn't do it this year. 3 Final Fours, 3 national title game appearances and two championships. Are you kidding me? Not top 5? It's not like Joakim Noah was the top rated player coming out of high school. He developed that team.

So, we should hire Tony Jones now? I think Jones is ok, but I'm not sure where he's #17 or above his boss. Pearl at #24 is too low. I think top 15 would be about right.

Jones was #17 on the ASST coaches list.

Calipari at #1 is the biggest joke. At some point, don't you need to actually win something to be considered the best? Dominating Conference USA after your biggest threats leave and getting close in the tournament a couple of times doesn't exactly qualify.

Agreed 100%.

two different lists, one for head men and one for assistants.

06/07 they had 2 NBA playes, dorsey and roberts.

07/08 was Rose.

Hat, are you saying that Cal is a good X and O coach?

I'm assuming that when he says 2007 he means the tournament that took place that year...so no Derrick Rose and the other two weren't lottery picks...

I'm sorry. I'm laughing so hard at the idea of Billy Donovan, whose winning rosters were stocked by the caucasian WWW, Bret Bearup, running a clean program I can't concentrate.

No, but he isn't a good coach. He is a good recruiter. Hell, if i had an NBA team i could do what he has done. Even you could Hat.

He beat the UCLA team with Love, Westbrook, Collison and Mbah a Moute with basically CDR and Rose...

Memphis didn't have a lottery pick in '06, either. Made the Elite Eight.

My bad, in 06-07 they only had Rodney Carney(16th pick), CDR(40th pick), Robert Dozier(60th Pick), and Joey Dorsey(33rd pick). Same in 07-08, minus Rodney Carney, plus Derrick Rose(1st Pick). I guess he really overachieved with that talent......

i dunno, i am not sure.

Williams seems to be struggleing.. This season for example. I don't know. They are both good coaches.

IZZO and Coach K are outstanding. I don't see how Cal is above them.

Izzo and Coach K are excellent coaches -- no doubt about it. But putting Cal above them is very defensible. Cal has landed the top recruit in the country the last three years, and his recruiting prowess is by no means limited to those three guys.

Again, I approach this question as a "who would I hire today" decision and not as a comparison of resumes. Cal is at the top of my list.

Why interrupt a typical indignant Pearlophile rant with fact?

Uh, it wasn't exactly a rant. Nice try with the typically stupid "Pearlophile" idiocy, though. I was simply going off the original post's information.

That would be foolish. You tell me who does better this season if these two coaches swapped rosters? Also a NC has to mean something in these rankings.

I'm fairly certain swapping rosters is not permitted in college basketball. Which is why it is crucial to recruit the best players. Which is why I take Cal over Boeheim.

Show me Donovan's winning percentages compared to everyone else HAT. Then make your case.
If you go by career winning percentage, your boy Donovan is behind Mark Few and Bruce Pearl, to name just two. Probably not the measure you want to use to fluff Coach Munster.
