k:And this post from someone who started a THREAD saying Anthony Grant is the WORST coach in the SEC...And replied 9 times defending it...
Anthony Grant did the worst job in the SEC coaching wise at the point where I made my post. Bruce Pearl did the best.
The subsequent increased level of productivity from Alabama including Releford improving over the course of his freshman year, led me to the place where I would be happy with Grant as coach here.
No one, and I mean none of the hat hangers or the man himself have refuted the important points that
1. Frank has never proven anything as a recruiter. The man looks like a CPA and will struggle in the living rooms.
2. As a coach the nets regressed. If you take over a company that is top 5 in your industry area, only complete morons herald your accomplishment at being "top 10" in your industry area. Frank took a team that was in the Finals, and he took it not as far. He did this for a while until the owners decided they were paying way too much for a team whose coach could not win a championship, so they destroyed the team and he was fired. With a bad roster he could not win, and with a great roster he could not win big.
3. His dominant coaching mode is anger. He is a screaming and cursing man. While I love RBK and that fits his description as well, RBK had a legacy that for a long time attracted very strong talent. Frank? It will be even more crippling than the fact that he looks hilarious to potential players that he is offering a style that will wear thin on players. He coaches boring basketball and he screams as he does it.
If you guys want Frank to come as an assistant here, I think he could bring a lot of knowledge. As head coach he would be a disaster.
To those who say O'Neill part 2 would be great, you are too far gone to help. O'Neill sucks. He sucks. His record is all the proof I need, but I also watched him in person suck over and over and over. He was able to beat Pearl but he has accomplished nothing in the tournament and he is a career mediocre. His best player is leaving, which is why he said his current USC team will "be the same next year as it was this year". Why do you have to build in low expectations? Because you suck.
