Coalition of the Realists

This thread has turned into some kind of whacky social experiment. It should probably be pitched as a reality show on CBS or Fox.

Bringing a diverse group of Vol fans together in an enclosed setting and seeing if the sunshine pumpers, realists, negavols, meth addicts, volleyannas, mods, etc can coexist and what the results will be.

Well done OP. Well done.

I have a feeling it would have a "Party Down South" look with a LOT more Orange!

and further, the game has already happened. Since all of space-time exists simultaneously and is just a matter of reference points, and multiple outcomes via branching universes, we have already won and lost the game! Hooray!

First of all, the 'cool story bro' thing is a bit harsh. I hate when people do that on here. It's like they need that e-cred by insulting somebody who shares (in most cases) a pretty neat little occurrence.
I don't care much about stuff like that... just serving it up for the smart alecks who do.

Your experience sounds unforgettable and awesome. One of things you'll cherish for life. I had a couple of those type moments in my sporting career as well. Always cool to overcome the odds....which is exactly what I hope happens Saturday night.

With you there. Your OP just sounded way too defeatist for my tastes. The probability is that UT loses. It could even be the laugher that some predict. I just bristle at the whole idea that OU might as well be playing the Tennessee school from Chattanooga rather than K'ville. I could be wrong but just don't see it as that kind of mismatch.

To answer your question in a way that might make you happier... I'd give the Vols about a 20-25% chance of winning the game. I honestly give the Vols about a 80% chance of beating the spread. IMO, there's a 20% chance UT loses by more than 3 scores.

First things first, I'm the realest (realest)
Drop this and let the whole world feel it (let 'em feel it)
And I'm still in the Murda Bizness

Not to go all Nick Saban but I'm looking for progress in the process from the Vols against a top 5 opponent. "Progress" being defined as the following:

1. This is not a physical mismatch. They can't get 7 yards at will on a dive play. Don't want to see their full back out run our safeties. I want to see the Vols laying the wood to some folks.
2. We don't get beat on big plays because we are not in formation. I don't want to see some dude in red waving his arms in the end zone with no one in orange within 20 yards. If they drop a forty yarder in a basket over Cam's outstretched hand so be it.
3. Take good angles to the ball. Maintain your leverage. I want to see at least 6 orange jerseys at the ball carrier at the end of every play.
4. The offense looks poised and executes without dumbass false starts and delay penalties. Make at least a first down on every possession and let the D finish a gator aid before they have to come back out.
5. When the play is there execute it!! When its not make the most of what's there and punt the ball. NO SILLY TURNOVERS!
5. Play strong on special teams. Stay in your lane, wrap up on tackles. No Arkansas type highlight punt returns where we have 8 missed tackles on a single play.
6. Play for 60 minutes like the score was tied, regardless of what the scoreboard says.

If they can do these things then we're heading in the right direction and the score will reflect it.

How did I miss this?

The gentleman's post that you responded to reminds of a bet minus the dog food:)yuck:) but still involves food, husband and I made an interesting bet. He has chosen the Vols for the upset and I'm like most people that think it's gonna happen this year. If the Vols pull the upset, then I make his lunch on Monday and if the Vols lose, he makes mine. We would've put money on the line but that wasn't an option being Christmas is only a few months away. :)

I have no problem predicting Tennessee to win this game. And if anybody thinks I will be deterred because I might be embarrassed on an internet message board, then they have no idea of the scope of some of my other failures.

It is always the eternal now

I was hoping someone would catch that. :hi:

Back in my day everybody was a Hank fan. Everone either had a dog named Hank or a friend and we all knew every song on his tapes word for word! When I saw this thread that's first thing I thought of.
