I wouldn't go fapping away just yet.
If what he plead guilty to was lying to the bank about what he was borrowing money for it's such a minor and common "crime" it's not going to bring down a presidency.
True. Unless he did it a lot. And about significant things. It's one thing to claim you need 10k for a new roof and spend 2k of that on vacation. Quite another to engage in systemic fraud of hundreds of thousands to pay off porn stars or hookers.
Surely, you would agree that at some point it could be enough to force prosecutorial action.
Don't you expect that he did do that more than once? I'd be very surprised if it wasn't common for him, or others on his behalf, to lie to banks.

- Cohen pleaded guilty Tuesday to eight criminal charges including tax fraud and campaign finance violations, and could face years in prison.

Dershowitz: Trump Did Not Commit a Crime If He Paid Women Out of His Own Pocket
This is what happens when you lie ALL THE TIME. He can't remember the lies he's told in the past. That's not the issue.
And I'm confused. At first Trump said he did not know who or how the payments were made. Now, when Cohen says he told him to make them and conceal them, he says that he personally made them?
Was he lying then, or is he lying now? The two statements are mutually exclusive.
That's not the issue.

“If Mueller writes a report on potential crimes by the president, there has to be some indication of how serious this is and what does it mean in terms of whether he would have been charged with a crime, even if DOJ is not going to have an indictment of the president,” said Hasen, the University of California law professor. “There’s a lot of ways further analysis of Trump’s motives could come, aside from actually charging him with a crime.”
One potentially significant twist with Trump is that Justice Department policy says he can’t be indicted while in office. So the question may never directly arise about whether to file a charge against him. Instead, the issue may be whether to include the alleged campaign finance offenses in a report to Congress that could lead to impeachment.
Even there, however, the intent issue could loom large because the Justice Department is likely to take into account how it would have handled a potential criminal case against Trump.
