Cole studies OL play thruout the conference each week. In discussing the poor level of OT play thru the conf this morning, his comment was “Tennessee may have the laziest LT”. WOW.

It was very surprising to see him struggle to get up to the LOS after longer plays. May have been a cardio issue after not playing for a couple weeks but he’s gotta get that figured out

Maybe it’s conditioning since he missed a lot of fall camp or maybe he’s still battling injuries. Regardless you gotta get him out of there if that’s the effort he’s gonna play with.

Oline was ranked # 4 in the SEC preseason. A little lofty, considering lack of depth. Somebody failed in the Talent transfer dept.

This is what happens when you’re forced to rely on the portal for linemen. It’s one thing when you’re filling in a spot here and there like the d-line (Norman-Lott, Moi). It’s different when 3/5 linemen are transfers. It’s too early to be pressing the panic button on Ellarbee right now, but if things haven’t markedly improved in a couple years when these current freshmen are juniors and Sanders has been on campus a while, it may be time for a change.

Agree.
You moved your starting LT from last year over to RT. The rest of the group is the same.
You returned essentially 4 starters from last year (depending how you feel about Karic)
Spraggins and Mays have been starters most of this decade.
You've not found a single body capable of replacing Dayne Davis as your 6th man since 2021.
You've not found anybody that can be a backup C since 2021.
Addison couldn't cut it enough to make our depth chart but he was the starting C for the team that just beat you.
No Heup OL recruit has been developed into a starter. They were either already here or transfer portal.

Why does it need to be a 300 lbs guy? We’re only running through the A gap anyway. We just need someone who can move their feet in pass protection. Let one of the backup TE’s have a crack at it.

Also, now you know why we only run up the middle.

He didn't play a ton at LSU but we signed him based of his measurables. They only go so far is you aren't willing to put in the work. I haven't been impressed with many of our portal additions including Brazzell. It will be interesting to see how much longer the freeflow of NIL money will continue if their investments don't pan out. Even in the case of Nico, IF he is receiving as much as NIL money as is reported which is a big if, I don't know how many companies are going to want to invest in a high profile qb who is underperforming.
