Colin Kaepernick sits during national anthem

So they would rather put lives at risk by not showing up to do their job over this? Very mature move by the police department. These cops need to learn what most people learned in grade school, "sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me".

All this over not standing and some pig socks...

And here I thought you would be fine with less cops.

Statement from Chief of Police Santa Clara PD:

Yesterday, the Santa Clara Police Officers Association (SCPOA) sent a letter to the 49ers organization requesting that they take action against their employee, Colin Kaepernick, for his recent statements and behavior towards police officers.

The SCPOA suggested that if the 49ers did not address his behavior, members of the union might choose to not work Levi's Stadium events.

Many of us in the law enforcement community have been saddened and angered by Kaepernick's words and actions. His blanket statements disparaging the law enforcement profession are hurtful and do not help bring the country together. As distasteful as his actions are, these actions are protected by the Constitution. Police officers are here to protect the rights of every person, even if we disagree with their position. Police officers have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution.

In Santa Clara we are fortunate to have excellent police-community relations that are built on trust and mutual respect. We have gone to great lengths to engage with our community to listen and understand their needs. As the Chief of Police, I am committed to continuing the relationships we have with our residents.

The men and women of the Santa Clara Police Department are highly trained and professional law enforcement officers. The safety of our community is our highest priority. I will urge the POA leadership to put the safety of our citizens first. I will work with both sides to find a solution. In the meantime, I will ensure we continue to provide a safe environment at Levi’s Stadium.

Forbes: Conservative Group Said Colin Kaepernick Was Breaking Federal Law Over Anthem Protest

And while the police chief of Santa Clara Co. where the Niners play, has said that, “Many of us in the law enforcement community have been saddened and angered by Kaepernick’s words and actions,” he understands that police officers are sworn to uphold the Constitution. Thusly, the American Family Association didn’t quite understand that part and whoever was running their Twitter account, read the U.S. code for the national anthem, put two and two together and got anyone not being patriotic and standing for the national anthem should get thrown in jail and with a conviction would wind up with a felony.

And its not just yourself, when you're poor. We punish the poor people who actually try more than anyone

Where I'm coming from is that I know several people who earn just enough to get by for a while, and then walk off the job. A lot of them have no initiative, and no work ethic. The same folks didn't apply themselves in school. Some are just lazy. Others have bad attitudes.

They also make poor choices related to cigs, children, etc. and waste a lot of money. There are also people who work very hard, and can't get ahead, due to a lack of education or skills.

To explain what I mean, I want to tell you about something that happened to my 1st cousin a couple of weeks ago. He works at a used car lot. A man came in with a big envelope containing over $100,000 in cash. He bought 3 trucks from my cousin, and 5 additional vehicles for himself and his family at other car lots.

The man had received $170,000 as a settlement for a tractor accident. To his credit, he paid his hospital bill of $69,000+. That may have been a requirement of the settlement. I don't know.

Before buying the cars and trucks, he asked the owner of the house he rented with his parents about buying the house. The owner told him it would be "in the 30's. That means that they lived in a $30 something thousand dollar house.

A couple of days later, he offered the owner $30,000 for the house, and the owner said he wanted $35,000. The man then got into an argument with the owner over the price because he said "you told me $30,000." The owner said "I said IN the 30's. I want 35. To make a long story short, the mother, the father, and the man all cussed out the owner who then evicted them. He now has to sell one of his 8 cars to have the money to move. He went through 100 grand in a week, and he is once again broke, and having to move. He will always be poor.

Poverty is a condition, not an income amount.

Conservatives never really understand the constitution or law. Not a surprise.

I would love to see a study proving this nonsense. Stereotyping groups of people immediately ranks your take as idiotic and disqualifies anything that you say afterwards. Besides, your boy in the White House has exhibited a complete lack of understanding of the Constitution and he supposedly taught Constitutional Law for 12 years. So that blows your theory out of the water right there.

Yes we should understand the law is what elitist liberals say it is. If you don't like it you are a racist. Liberals support illegal immigration, illegal spending, illegal mail servers to hide illegal activities, illegal nomination process and don't forget illegal bias by our watchdog the press.

Great example of what I was talking about. :thud::blink:

Honestly, Lincoln probably trampled the constitution more than any president ever. Dude locked up elected officials so they couldn't vote against him. He locked up journalists and editors for criticizing him. He suspended habeus corpus. He even threatened a supreme court judge issuing a warrant for his arrest because the judge asked, "Where does Lincoln get the authority to suspend habeus corpus?"

...can you imagine the outcry if Obama did any of that stuff?

No, but I can imagine in 140 years that people will be rewriting history like they do today.
