Colin Kaepernick sits during national anthem

Because it's 9/11? His protest has nothing to do with 9/11. It has nothing to do with veterans.

Because Many police died on 9/11 trying to save citizens like him. If Kaepernick can sit for the the very small publicized officers that are corrupt, he can at least stand for those who died 15 years ago trying to save citizens. That's my point.

Great or not, kneeling is disrespectful and a poorly chosen method of protest.

It should be whatever you want to be called. Forcing labels on things is only reinforcing antiquated patriarchal oppression.

I call BS on that! Bigtime!

My granma would'a most near left me scalped by yanking me up by my hair if I dint stand up for the Anthem.

I suppose that'd be Matri-ache-al "UP you fool" UPbringing.

But seriously, this ..."Forcing labels on things is only reinforcing antiquated patriarchal oppression."... really is BS.
Just because some words you smithed together sound good in your ear, does not mean there's any basis in reality.

If this is simply to send a message about oppression shouldn't one time be enough? It seems if you continually do this you are saying you dislike this country.

It's not like a hunger strike or player strike.

Given that oppression (in whatever form) is unlikely to be solved in the near future is this the new normal for these protestors?

Not really my cup of tea and I think it is a wasted effort to risk so much over such a symbolic gesture, yet, if someone wants to kneel or stand for a piece of cloth, what difference in the grand scheme of things does it make? The grievances they have will not be resolved and the people that are butt hurt right now are not having their lives affected in any significant manner. It's a wash.

It seems if you continually do this you are saying you dislike this country.
Probably so. But just because a person has a dislike for their country at a given time doesn't mean they need to leave it, nor does it mean that they don't have hopes of the country changing. They are simply voicing their opinion.

It's not like a hunger strike or player strike.

You guys are making the problem much worse by showing all of this outrage. All you have to do is ignore them and they will find some other form of protest. Hell, you may actually force them to do something productive. Ever thought about it like that?
