He is not a socialist. He is trying to restructure the Tax structure in America. There are plenty of Govts in the free world with better Tax Structures than the US that we would call Socialist but are democracies and originally capitalist based.

He specifically stated he wanted to spread wealth around.

Obama wants to tax me more because im successful and I make more $$$ than someone making, lets say the min. wage. Instead of taxing me more, why don't the person making min. wage try to better themself and be successful just like me? It's called wealth distribution, and it's garbage.

name one country in the free world that has a strictly consumption based tax system for generating revenues to the federal treasury. I know the US doesn't use a consumption tax, or Fair Tax, but it should.

the progressive tax system is a socialist construct and is one of Marx's Ten Pillars of Communism

Could someone please hit Mr. Powell up side the head and remind him he is a Rep.

He's no Republican.

As a key reason, Powell said: "I would have difficult with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court, but that's what we'd be looking at in a McCain administration."

As a REP it sounds real lame, but the bottom line is that it is what it is as well as it should be. The Powell endorsement clarified the loose ends of my decision. He analyzed and stated all that made sense of what this country needs. He put it in a Sock and without demeaning this country or without being negative about MC Cain to justified his endorsement. The selection of Palin as a VP nominee was my first indication of where Mc Cain was headed and where I question my vote for him. She was not the right choice and may well cost him the election. He had at least 5 better women choices for VP of which he overlooked to go for a non-qualified long shot.

Again, it takes someone else to do the analysis for you?

The biggest mistake Bush made in his presidency, was listening to Cheney instead of Powell on the issue of Iraq. Powell is one of the few members of Bush's cabinet that the majority of Americans still view favorably.

I agree. The more I listen to him the more I am convinced that he is to the left of socialism.

You think? Neither Obama nor McCain have taken the reigns yet and we are becoming the model of French policy.

then maybe you should find a picture of Bush and DeGaulle.

posting a picture of Bush along with Stalin, Lenin, Marx, and Engells (I assume) with the implication that they are equal is to betray an appalling ignorance of what marxism/socialism/communism is.

nope, just the next step in the logical progression.

Bush is a LONG way from Lenin or Stalin, I'm not sure how or why you think there's some kind of "logic" to your thinking.

Maybe if you look at what is going on in Washington, and quit your chicken little thinking you might see the humor in all of this?

you navy types must have your own type of humor, unless the funny part of that picture was the fact that Bush looked like a chimpanzee.
