So, I gotta couple questions about this portal business…
1. Just because a player enters it, doesn’t mean he’s leaving, correct? He could decide to stay if the grass isn’t greener, right?
2. Is this a discussion between coaches and players, or is it just a player decision? I guess I am really asking about strategy.
Finally, 2000 baseball players in the portal…many won’t find a new baseball home I reckon?
Okay, I guess I should have said a few questions.
1. Yes, players can exit the portal and return, although some coaches may have a policy of disowning those who enter the portal.
2. I imagine it can go both ways, a player could decide on their own to bail or a coach could strongly recommend that they look elsewhere. But ultimately decision to enter portal is the player’s
3. Yep, there’s no guarantees when entering the portal and many players could be SOL.
Hope this helps

No kidding.
But, because of the roster sizes, reduced minor league teams, the draft…the baseball portal seems like a dangerous place to be in comparison to football, which is why I asked.
I see that Coltyn Kessler officially entered the portal 7 days ago. Do we know if he’s really considering Tennessee or is that just speculation? It seems like the perfect spot for him…there’s an opening for a Catcher, he’d and he’d be surrounded by talent, a great coach who develops guys for the pros, and would have a legit shot at Omaha.
