College Football is officially a joke

Unpopular opinion but CFP got it right.

Florida State didn't play much of anyone. None of the quant polls even have them in the top 10. And their SoS is not very good. Best wins are LSU and Louisville and most of their schedule was a breeze.

It sucks to leave a 0-loss P5 team out, but the ACC sucked this year. There's no way FSU has a better resume than Bama, Texas, Georgia, or Ohio State.

I'm shocked that the CFP had the guts to make the right call, because traditionally everyone whines if a 0-loss team with a weak resume doesn't get in.

If you truly believe that (for record I'm not calling you out), you have to question why 13-0 FSU without Travis is ranked ahead of Georgia (last week's #1) and Ohio State.... If losing Travis is this drastic change in team, you can't just grade that team out of the Top 4 and stop there..... The committee used one formula to get them out of the playoff and then said to hell with it afterwards.... It is why I say they blew up their own model and they didn't even get that right.

Not sure if there’s more of a beef with Bama or Texas, but definite crock that FSU didn’t get a spot. All you can do is play the teams on your schedule.
I sympathize with this view, but if you take it to its logical conclusion, then you have to say a team like Liberty deserves a spot, even though Liberty's best win according to Sagarin was against the 91st best team in college football. We would be undefeated with Liberty's schedule. We might be 11-1 with FSU's schedule.

There's a huge difference between going undefeated playing nobody and finishing the season with 1-2 losses against consistent top 25 competition. FSU's schedule was weak, but they did have 2 good wins in there, so it sucks that they get left out, but there's no way I can look at that team and say they're better than Bama, Texas, Washington, Ohio State, or even Oregon.

Liberty is not a P5 school.... How many G5 champs have been left out? A lot.... How many times has a P5 13-0 team been left out? Never....

Corrigan is not the committee, but he is the chair and therefore the mouthpiece for the committee that votes. For a second straight year, he has done the interview with ESPN on selection Sunday and couldn't utter a single coherent defense or message of the committee's final 4 vote... Of course it isn't like Rece Davis would actually ask him tough questions either...
He is the face of the committee from NC State of the ACC.

This Liberty argument is just tortured. Everybody knows the difference between G5 and P5

Second time I’ve seen Liberty response. Nuance just done make it sometimes on a message board.

Laughable to think FSU can schedule any other way.
It may not be their fault but they played in a laughable conference this year. That just is what it is. SOS at 55. Bama SOS at 5. The best player on their team, a heisman hopeful is now on the sideline. Not sure why it doesn’t make sense to some. Other than the fact they can’t get past their Bama hatred.

If you are talking about 4 best then where is the outcry for UGA? Who would they not be favored against in the top 4 outside of Bama?
Well UGA and Bama pretty much played a de facto quarterfinal game last night . The same way Washington and Oregon did Friday night. Timing is everything w/ college football and I don’t agree with it a lot of the time, but I hope the 12 team CFP will make a big difference.

Wonder if UGA would have taken care of business if the nashing of teeth would have been the same for UTjr getting in over Florida State.

I mean let’s be honest, UGA, Bama and UTjr are all better than Fla St.

And he is not a coherent individual when talking to the media... It is one thing to have a selection that you as a working group decide on.... It is another thing to be able to coherently articulate the group's work.... He could have come out and said we picked it this way and that is all I'm going to say, but he didn't... Once you start talking, you have to be able to defend. your work... He couldn't. But he also once again got let off the hook by a friendly press.... The CFP under Corrigan has hardly ever had to deal with a press / media with backbones to ask tough questions.

All the conference/scheduling complaints about FSU you could easily levy at Michigan. Michigan played a one game schedule(at home) in a weak conference. FSU has better wins than Michigan too. Michigan and Iowa combined for under 400 offensive yards yesterday lmao.

Well he’s going to have to put together a coherent sentence when he talks to Jim Phillips and the FSU administration. I don’t envy the guy .

No. My point is they can’t use that “best four” argument to put Bama in if they put TCU and Cincinnati in during previous years. And the committee has NEVER left out an undefeated P-5 champ until today. They change criteria like I change underwear- about 3 times a week- to justify their choices. Florida State did everything they were asked to do (as opposed to Bama) and they got shafted. But, as we all know, life ain’t fair and you better get a helmet. Florida State just found that out.
They're supposed to choose the best 4, they've gone with deserving several times before to terrible conclusions. They finally do it right and you all are losing your minds.

Bold - So? They haven't had this situation yet. And the ACC is awful so winning that conference is not impressive at all.

FSU is not a top 4 team right now. They're not and that's what is "Supposed" to matter.

All of this could have been taken care of years ago if they would just have a real playoff.

I have no problem with the CFP's decision because every year, someone always draws the short straw.... What I can't stand is when the committee can't coherently articulate their decisions... Once you can't do that, you open doors to other questions and challenges to the "formula"
