College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Chris Street died in a car accident during his junior season at Iowa during the 92-93 season. He held the school record for consecutive FTs at Iowa, a streak he had extended to 34 in his final game before his untimely death. As a gesture of goodwill, Bohannon chose to miss what would have been his 35th consecutive, and record-breaking FT in order to allow Street’s record to stand since he was not able to extend it himself due to his unfortunate death. Street’s parents were in attendance last night as well.

That's cool.

But he's foregoing his chance at the NCAA record. Not sure if Bohannon is a senior or something and it's not in reach.

Cool gesture.

If I die holding a record I wouldn't want someone to purposely not break it. Don't hold many records though unless you count longest battle with BTO in the hoops forum.

Just heard an interesting stat on the radio and I felt the need to share it... Every team currently in the SEC has won at least 1 NCAA Tournament game since 2003 except for Georgia. Just looked it up to verify and it's true:

Alabama: Last win - 2006
Arkansas: Last win - 2017
Auburn: Last win - 2003
Florida: Last win - 2017
Georgia: Last win - 2002*
Kentucky: Last win - 2017
LSU: Last win - 2009
Ole Miss: Last win - 2013
Mississippi State: Last win - 2008
Missouri: Last win - 2010
South Carolina: Last win - 2017
Tennessee: Last win - 2014
Texas A&M: Last win - 2016
Vanderbilt: Last win - 2012

*It's worth noting that even Georgia's 2002 NCAA Tournament win over Murray State was later vacated due to infractions committed under Jim Harrick (How many points is a 3 point shot worth? An actual question from one of Jr's classes.)... Georgia is also tied with Arkansas and Mississippi State for the longest drought from the Sweet 16 (1996). If you're like me and have some Georgia friends talking garbage about their 5 game winning streak over us - remind them of this... and for the love of God, let's please win at home next Saturday. That is a lousy program. They have no business having a winning streak like this over us.

You have friends who are Georgia basketball fans? I didn’t know those even existed. How can do they tolerate such mediocrity? 9 years of Mark Fox?

Great stat.

VT with the great ending for the win, awesome game...I know Duke is probably out of reach but a loss to UNC next and it becomes a legitimate possibility.

WVU's half-court offense looks kind of bad. there's a lot of difficult 2's and fadeaways

Well tonight went about as good as possible...Duke lost to VT leaving that door slightly cracked, West Virginia handed TTU another loss which would seemingly cement our position ahead of TTU. Big opportunity tomorrow night, GBO!

I didn't realize that Arkansas hasn't made the Sweet 16 since 1996. That's too good of a program for that. Mike Anderson has been okay but I expected more from him at Ark.

Made a S16 at UAB and an EE at Missouri and hasn't made a S16 at Arkansas. To me, it seems like his Arkansas teams haven't played defense as well as his old teams. Also, he has had trouble recruiting elite players, even ones in his own state.

Our last two opponents are on the "Next Four Out" list. I hope we are ready to play because I am pretty sure they will be head hunting to get in
