In kind of shocking news (to me) Zion Williamson commits to duke. I figured hed be clemson or South Carolina bound.
The Kentucky love is really silly. They've done nothing to indicate they are better than a top 20-25 team. All the talent in the world, but no experience or veteran leadership. They are definitely being given the benefit of doubt for the name on the front of their jersey.
And the names on the back. They are good players, but it's not a good team. But neither was the 2011 or 2014 teams that made deep tourney runs.
What a fan.
I'm definitely not as passionate as I used to be. I hope we do fine, but I really don't like the teams we've had recently. I remember being a kid and loving guys like Marquis Estill, Cliff Hawkins, and even recently with some guys in the Rondo years.
I wish I could find a way to care this season.

Yeah, and I haven't looked to see, but I'd guess those teams got the benefit of doubt then too until it was no longer possible. This team just doesn't look united. Not nearly as bad as the Archie Goodwin-led team, but getting there.
USCjr was never a real option. Duke makes sense in retrospect. He didn't want to go far away, yet he didn't really want to just stay home for sake of staying home. With Duke, it's a mixture of staying home and going to a powerhouse.
I don't think Zion will live up to his hype though. He's a ridiculous athlete and his style caters to highlight reels. A better version of Derrick Jones imo. Not to say Coach K can't develop him though.

One of my pet peeves is when people use the 2013 team as a failure for Calipari. I always bring up the Noel injury. He was clearly our best player. We weren't a top 5 team with him, but we weren't an NIT team either.
But yes...this team doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the top 25 imo.
Admit it, Calipari was very fortunate to have Anthony Davis on his Championship squad along with Miller and Lamb.
