Call me crazy, but Auburn may be on upset alert, tonight. Not because Mizzou should be able to keep pace based on talent. But there is just some kind of curse on teams that receive that #1 ranking for the first time in the school’s history.Martin and Missouri attempt to cage the Tigers and Pearl in Columbia tonight.
It will be a trifecta shooting contest.
I remember thinking after we went to 1 against Memphis that the Vandy game would be difficult to win. They had some really good players, it was on a Tuesday following a Saturday game, and at Vanderbilt. We had a letdown, but the outcome was not a huge surprise. I think Auburn will blow Mizzou completely out of the water. Of course, it’s basketball, so……..Call me crazy, but Auburn may be on upset alert, tonight. Now that I’ve said that, AU will go out and drill them by 40.![]()
I want them to win every game until they play us. I know it seems almost impossible to beat Auburn nowadays but my god the atmosphere in that place when the Tigers roll into town with a number 1 ranking. That would be a dog fight and more.I remember thinking after we went to 1 against Memphis that the Vandy game would be difficult to win. If you look at their schedule, there’s a chance they don’t lose another game before they come to Knoxville. Their toughest games are Oklahoma and Alabama at home and their toughest road test is at Arkansas. They could slip up but if not, a 27-1 Auburn team will be coming into town soon.If Bruce Pearl came to TBA with the #1 Auburn Tigers I think our fanbase would have an identity crisis. They wouldn't know whether to boo the guy or to hold up signs begging him to come back. It would be an......interesting atmosphere.
Yes, that Vandy team was infinitely better than this Mizzou edition. And @ Vandy is much tougher than @ Mizzou. AU will probably win handily, but strange things happen to 1st-timers on top (INB4, TWSS).I remember thinking after we went to 1 against Memphis that the Vandy game would be difficult to win. I don’t think there would be a big split. Hard to say if Mizzu has much of a home court advantage since their bleachers are so sparsely filled. Auburn by 20Call me crazy, but Auburn may be on upset alert, tonight. Looks like Louisville is ready to move on from Chris Mack. Their BOT is meeting tomorrow to discuss him. Telltale sign is his weekly coach’s radio show which was scheduled for tonight was canceled.
Their fans seem to be all in on the idea of poaching Pearl from Auburn. But would their administration really go there this soon after the mess Pitino put them in? I can’t see that. Surely they would hire someone cleaner.
I don’t get the point of firing him at this point of the season. But, to each their own.
I highly doubt Louisville would be turned off by Pearl. His sins pale in comparison to Pitino’s and I’m sure their administration would be far more concerned about striking out again. I bet they go big this time.
I’m not entirely sure Louisville can outbid Auburn though. I’m sure their pockets are deep, but SEC schools have obscene amounts of cash. I just can’t see Auburn letting him walk.

I can definitely see Pearl’s agent reaching out to a dupe reporter in the Louisville sports market to stir the pot, though…I just don't buy it. I mean, I'd love to see Auburn fans cry, but he's built Auburn into a consistent powerhouse. Auburn would probably pay him whatever he wants to stay. What reasons would there be to leave?

Louisville is still a much better job than Auburn. One year of Auburn being great and Louisville being bad doesn’t change that. Auburn may have money but they don’t have 8 final fours and 2 natties. The reason he might leave would be the same Barnes almost went to UCLA. Plus Auburn was awful last year. I doubt he’ll have another team there as good as this one. It would be much easier to consistently recruit at Louisville imoI just don't buy it. I mean, I'd love to see Auburn fans cry, but he's built Auburn into a consistent powerhouse.
