Issue here could be it sounds like there’s a witness that is the one who called the cops, could have trouble getting both people to flip their stories completely and police buy it.

That would be a really bad PR look for Texas if he stays because she dropped charges but he actually did do something. But I'm not a lawyer nor do I know the details of his contract so they may have no legal recourse to let him go for cause.

Agreed. Very few details out right now. Just a terrible situation. That is all that is known. Hope the person he allegedly strangled is doing okay.

That can go in several directions. Obviously, you don't have to be convicted to be fired for cause. School should do their own investigation, and then turn it over to legal for a decision (and work with the AD on the decision). Legal will then decide if they think the facts support a termination with cause under the contract. If so, they may enter into settlement negotiations to pay him a certain sum to avoid a lawsuit. It is just clean that way and makes it all go away. If not (like Pruitt's termination), then Beard is certainly open to file suit, but it will come with discovery that will involve people answering questions under oath about something they may not want to discuss. Texas obviously has to balance the facts, his reputation as coach, and its own reputation as a program.

Jerry’s always been too concerned about social media. He’s blocked and replied to a handful of local, regional, and national media types. Between that and selecting his sideline attire, he could probably spend a little more time coaching his team.

Looks like Beard is sunk if the police report is accurate. The victim claimed Beard bit her and the woman had bite marks on her arm according to police reports. She had signs of injury to her face, legs, and fingers. She also had labored breathing per the report. I don't see how there's a way back for him unless it's just some bizarre lie from her.
