Yep, Purdue has now lost 2 of 3. It’s funny how most of our fans are thinking, yeah they’re still really good and will figure it out, and we don’t want to face them. Whereas for us having lost 3 of 4, we won’t win anymore games.
I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, but Purdue does have 3 fewer losses than us and their worst loss is to KenPom #48 while we have a pretty uninspiring list of losses recently.
Purdue also has the National Player of the Year that they will be able to rely on in March to get them a bucket whenever they desperately need one. I’m not saying we can’t or won’t figure it out. We could. I just think the two situations are pretty different.
100% on board with your post.Yeah, the situations are very different, and I’m certainly not suggesting that we look like the caliber of team that Purdue is. However, it is a matter of perspective that we dwell on the Vols when many ranked teams are losing games. It’s that time of year when that happens.
While there are many concerns, it still took last second shots and boneheaded plays for the results in the last 2 games. I’m still fully on board with our guys, although I made just be wired that way.
To imply that Texas Tech is a 'bad' team would be a distortion on the facts. They're 2-10 against Q1 teams and have 1 road win, so they're not likely to get an at large bid.

They have single digit loses to 5 teams that are going to be seeded #1 to #5 as it currently stands. 9 of their 12 loses are to teams who will make the NCAAT
They are likely to miss the NCAAT, but they are a bubble team who could make some noise ... they just beat 3 seed Kansas State and 2 seed Texas at home ...
