College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

It is right now, but drop one game you shouldn’t and all of a sudden that rpi drops into the “very few teams make the dance” range of the RPI.

You just cited that UF with a 3-4 finish would be around 53 which is still "good enough" range. A 2-5 finish would definitely put UF on shaky ground, but plenty of teams have made the field with an RPI around 60 and UF would have the quality wins to possibly join that group.

But the original point was that Missouri is on more stable ground than UF and that isn't true. Missouri's strength is their RPI -- a 2-5 finish would leave Missouri with an RPI around 59 and that wouldn't be good enough for them.

I'd rank the SEC resumes:

1. Auburn (2-3)
2. Tennessee (solid 3)
3. Texas A&M (5-6)
4. Kentucky (5-6)
5. Florida (7-8)
6. Missouri (8-9)
7. Alabama (8-9)
8. Arkansas (10-11)
9. Mississippi State (outside looking in)

A&M has the most underrated resume right now in the country imo. Their seed is still being deflated from their bad SEC start but at this point there's little that separates them from UK, Oklahoma, WVU, etc.

I’ve got no issues with that list at all...and agree about A&M, they would probably still get into the dance at 7-11 in SEC play, crazy to think.

By your own admission Missouri and Florida are maybe 1 seed line different, so not sure you can really make much of a claim either way.

There is still waaaaay too much TBD that you can’t claim if a RPI 60+ team would get in or not, but there hasn’t been a ton of them get in with a RPI that high. My stance was that if both go 3-4 I think Missouri would be slightly in front of UF, I’m not saying 2 seed lines, I just think they’d be ahead of them...now without knowing which is the win/loss for each team it also makes it impossible to say.

The actual overall point was that I wasn’t agreeing with a Gators fan, who was the original one saying Florida wasn’t a lock, in which I agreed.

The NCAA team sheets ranks the resumes currently:
7) Auburn
8) Tennessee
17) Kentucky
18) TX A&M
31) Missouri
32) Florida
37) Arkansas
42) Alabama
54) Mississippi State
63) Georgia
65) LSU

It’s crazy to think that there are 11 teams in the SEC that could potentially (though highly unlikely) make the tournament. That would tie the big east record.

It's strange, because just looking at the resumés, you'd think Florida's was maybe a little better, honestly. But the RPI and SOS says different. BPI agrees that Florida has a slightly better resumé.

Just quickly reviewing both of their schedules, UF has played 4 teams above RPI 222 while Mizzou has only played 1. I used that number because both played North Florida at 222. Also, UF has lost 4 home games while Mizzou has lost 2. Home losses hurt worse. Just some observations.

Woodshed of The Night: #1 Nova over St. John's

And where is the Saturday schedule?

It’s a good one. A lot of close games w potential upsets that could help the Vols

UNC at NC State
Texas Tech at Kansas State
Auburn at UGA
Purdue at Michigan State
Xavier at Creighton
Kansas at Baylor
Oklahoma at Iowa State

Not sure the spread (I'd imagine it's close), but NCSU over UNC is my upset of the day.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Creighton beat Xavier either.
