College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

It’s an idiotic rule that only serves to hurt the student athlete, so it is not a shock that it exists. If you can move from D2 UPWARD to D1 and can win your conference, why should you not be able to go dancing?? Makes no sense. I can understand if this rule existed for teams making the transition down to D2 so that their roster can take time to adjust “down” to the level of competition they are facing and can level out and not just be D1 athletes beating up on D2….but having this rule in affect for making a jump up makes zero sense to me.

I feel like the rule is in place to prevent DII teams from recruiting DI level athletes in the years before moving up, giving them an unfair advantage over their fellow DII members. But they should just make them ineligible for their last 3 years of DII instead if that’s the case.

I think the rule is mainly in place to discourage teams from moving up so that there are not a thousand teams in D1, still dumb though.

Chris Beard reported as leading candidate for Ole Miss. He might beat his wife but he has shown he can win. Trending to Ole Miss according to Goodman. Lots of reports coming out in last couple of hours.

This is a classic case of a university leaking something to gauge whether it passes their fanbase's sniff/outrage test.

Given the sparse attendance and general apathy, however, I'm not sure how many people care one way or another.

Kim English, Ticket Gaines, VJB with a heckuva closing 4 minutes to beat Richmond and advance to the A10 Quarter finals.

A couple more wins in that tournament and English might get some good opportunities. He might be my favorite former assistant to replace Barnes. Another 3 or 4 years and the timing might work out favorably. KE is still very young and needs some more experience before jumping to the SEC.

I’m watching the Southland Championship and a rugby game has broken out. Lots of push offs and elbows being thrown and the officials are letting them play on. At least it’s been consistent, I can say that much.
