Just a general thought here, but basketball, particularly at the college level, needs an intervention in terms of how rules are written and, in turn, how games are officiated. Far too many games have turned into free throw festivals over the last few seasons. That leads to more points, but is the game really better for it? Is the game more entertaining to watch? I don’t believe it is.
Allowing players to defend with more physicality would lead to less points being scored, but the flow of the game would be so much better imo. Less free throw contests and more real basketball. Plus, players like Mark Sears and B.J. Mack wouldn’t consistently get bailed out for driving into the lane like a bull in a china shop.
