I remember Marquette, I believe 1969, shunned the NCAA invite for the NIT. That was about the last time the NIT was considered as prestigious as the NCAA, who only included 16 teams at that time. If you didn't win the regular season championship, you didn't get an invite to the NCAANIT doesn’t occur in NYC anymore. Semis & championship game are at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Houston still has that quad 2 loss and losing at the break to Baylor 26-29. Little daylight through the crack of the door depending on how this game ends and Houston does in their tournament.

Of course this is a matter of opinion.
Having said that, if you ( meaning anyone) had to put your real money on someone winning it all, I doubt many actually would put that $ on Houston to get it done this year.
