Colts/Pats thread........

well... in the past five minutes, FV has agreed to a longer lasting bet and stated that Foster will outrush McFadden. Sometimes FV gets a little carried away. I'm just trying to look out for the guy.

4. peyton on the last drive held the ball too long and it cost 'em. the pats were going after him, bringing a lot of pressure and in what looked to be "old Peyton" he was looking down feild....where was the outlet to Addai late?

Bill Belicheck is a defensive genius. I'm pretty sure he's going to know how to stop a team with two wide receivers, only one of which is worth anything. Manning held the ball a long time because no receiver was available.

so are you saying that Manning's not smart enough to realize that and simply throw the ball away if that were the case?

me, i don't think so. he was trying to make a play and it didn't work out. he didn't get the extra second or two he needed for a play to develop.

I think thats exactly what happened. Late in the game on third down and they are down by 4. He was trying to force himself into making a play and it backfired on him.

i agree, cause i'm pretty sure he's a lot smarter than that, just take the sack, and turn the ball over cause he's not smart enough? unh uh.

he was looking to make a play, and it reminded me of the old peyton.

I don't get what you're driving at. What was he supposed to do? If he didn't pick up the first down, they were done. I'd rather see a QB toss up a desperation pass than just give up. Manning didn't get the opportunity to do that, but I imagine that was his next course of action. On third and long in the final drive it's better to try to force something than to throw in the towel.

that's what i'm driving at. do anything but hold on to the ball. he held it, got sacked and fumbled the game away.

throw it in to the stands, throw it to the feet of the closest elligible receiver.....dump it off to your check down......anything but hold it and fumble the ball.

and i know he's smarter than that. but that play at that point in the game in the situation he was in, it just reminded me of a Peyton when he first got in to the league.

i'm not saying he had a bad game, he didn't. but it seemed to me that he was pressing on those last two possessions, that's all. and the end result (the sacks and subsequent fumble) supports that imo.

I get what you're saying. I imagine he looked down the field and saw Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark both in triple coverage. He then probably noticed Moorehead was still standing on the line of scrimmage, unaware the ball had been snapped. I'm sure Joseph Addai was also well covered. There just wasn't much to be done. The alternative would have been to toss an almost certain INT the way Brady did agains the Colts last year in the playoffs. I don't think either of those plays really says anything about Brady or Manning.
