If they’re mad about Paul’s “underachieving” 5 Omaha appearances I don’t get why they’d be happy with Bianco’s 1 appearance in 20 years and 6 flame outs in Supers. He’s a great coach but I don’t see him being any different or better than what they have. You have a 20 year track record in the same division to evaluate him on so you know exactly what you’re getting. With Coach Bianco's son playing at LSU, that would be a solid hire for LSU.
Plus he is an alumnus of LSU.
I hope after we wta LS Shooo takes
Tony to Ruth Chris where he orders the most expensive dinner he's ever had.
Then tells them thanks for the dinner but no thanks for the offer. I'm going to Omaha.
Present Tony with a contract extension with a number that he'll sign for before they even get on the plane for Nebraska. I'm thinking $1.3 million a year--make him the highest paid coach in the country and put all other schools on notice that we mean business. I don't care if we gets swept out of Omaha, he's earned it in the amount of time it has taken him to completely revitalize the program.
Anything can happen, but I can't imagine TV leaving a Vol team that he is taking to the College World Series. It would be different if he coached at a smaller school and left for a power 5 program, but leaving an SEC team after a World Series run for another SEC team? I don't see it! He built this program and can put his own stamp on it.
You would be shocked how many connections he has and what kind of offer he could get Tony. You don’t proclaim that you’ll beat any other offer until another offer is made.
So, if a higher offer is made, how do we know they might just take it while assuming UT won't match or exceed it? If we don't tell them that we'll exceed any other offer up front, then we might never get a chance to counter the offer before he accepts it.
This isn't a normal business deal. Cat and mouse and the Art of the Deal don't apply here. We want him to stay regardless of the cost of making him the highest paid coach.
