Because the song sucks; it's country rap which is one step more cringey than pop country with a dude bro doing some horrible TikTok dancing. It's like the Kardashians of music.

And Applebee's is garbage.

I know this will sound weird, but I absolutely hate how the guy says "bourbon street steak" in that commercial. I can't explain it, but he says it in such a smug, "I'm a cool kid" way. In addition to the entire commercial itself. I had heard the song before the commercial because of my wife, but it sounds like the song was made for the commercial.

Brilliant marketing, regardless. All publicity is good publicity, especially if you're Applebee's.

I thought originally the song was meant to be ironic, like nobody thinks Applebee's is "fancy".

Then I saw interviews with the dude and......nope.

Oh, the song is definitely meant to be ironic. It's incredibly stupid and annoying, but not meant to be taken as though he really thinks Applebee's is fancy. He's a preppy looking bro country guy wearing what is probably a $500 vest in the music video.

I mean, there actually are people out there who think Applebee's is fancy, but I guarantee you he ain't one of them.

these navy federal credit union ads are just terribly conceived. I have a hard time an ad agency got paid and sold these concepts to the client. AWFUL.
