Coming soon to a town near you.

Idiots on NBC morning show today were encouraging stocking up on essentials like TP and canned food along with buying Christmas gifts now.

Cargo Ships Anchored off NY and LA face 4-WEEK Wait to Berth and Trains in Chicago are Backed Up 25 Miles with Global Supply Chain on the Brink of Collapse: Americans face shortages of cars, shoes and exercise gear as holiday season looms

  • Supply chains have lagged far behind consumer demand due to a lack of manpower at US ports and restrictions that came with the COVID-19 outbreak
Dozens of cargo ships anchored off the coasts of Los Angeles and New York face shocking wait times of up to four weeks and railyards and trucking routes are hopelessly clogged due to the lack of manpower to unload goods - with an expert warning that the government needs to intervene or face spiraling inflation and unemployment.

The backlog of billions of dollars of toys, clothing, electronics, vehicles, and furniture comes as the demand for consumer goods hit its highest point in history as consumers stay home instead of spending money on travel and entertainment.

Supply chains have lagged far behind consumer demand due to a lack of manpower at American ports and the restrictions that came with the COVID-19 outbreak early last year. These constraints, which include social distancing and mandatory quarantines, have severely limited the number and ability of port workers to do their jobs.

'Global infrastructure was not designed to handle goods at such a rate,' a logistics expert, who asked not to be named, told DailyMail.com.

'Supply chains are the artery who feeds our entire ecosystem. The government needs to intervene to stop this crisis immediately, or face increased inflation and unemployment, and economic breakdown - or face an end to global trade.'

The traffic-jams at ports on the California and Atlantic coasts have reached alarming heights in the past 18 months, and the buildup of cargo along the coasts is hindering the US' supply-chain system of railways and trucking routes

A coalition of unions that represent shipping workers around the world warned of an imminent 'global transport systems collapse'

Demand for these goods has spiked so suddenly, that when coupled with constraints, workers cannot process these products quick enough - and the demand is only continuing to increase

My father works an an intermodal center (rail) in a smaller city but he said this is absolutely happening and it’s way beyond just the CA ports.

Silly

I guess K'ma'la Harris was right about something when she said Christmas shopping will be earlier this year. I wonder if she gives good hairdo and decorating advice?

The port in LA only works limited hours (not 24 hours) which certainly doesn't help.

Thanks Joe! Crushing it!

Thanks Joe! Crushing it!

If you or I were a novice reporter at the WH, could you not think of an easy 20 Q's to ask this admin such as this? We would be investigative journalists just for asking "what is being done to address this?"

This is the biggest lying, least transparent Admin I have ever witnessed. Pathetic pussies.

May be a good reason for "The South" to invest more in port facilities... just in case we do need to divorce. Mobile, Charleston, Wilmington, Savannah?

Just throwing that out there...

It has been amazing to watch the Dems claim Trump was authoritarian which was false, and now support all this over reach. Not going to be good for anyone

I look forward to Biden’s plans on removal of the evil Trump tariffs. Have you got a tweet or link for that?

The CCP already failed to meet their phased agreements. Posted it the other day and it occurred in Jan and just recently. Effem

And to think the tree huggers want some kind of climate pledge that would decimate our nation's energy structure while they get decades. Foolishness and stupidity by anyone who supports such

I went to upgrade an I-phone from a lower version to an 11, and provider said they don't even have the ability to backorder it right now probably because of part shortages. They seem to only be making the 12 and 13 right now. Interestingly enough the first store I went to in Cool Springs is shutdown until the 10th. When I went to the 2nd store they said someone may have tested positive for Covid so everyone is off.

I've gone from restaurants to Macy's, and I'm finding some places are closed or going drive thru only due to staffing shortages or the shelves are half empty.

Just think of it as a preview to the socialist utopia.

My local tile shop closed because someone tested positive for Covid.

My goodness, my company has had a positive Covid case probably 70% of the weeks in the past 20 months and we never shut down.

The ignorance.

It’s Apple employees…..think about it…..

Oops thought you were referencing the above post not your local tile shop

Throughout this damn pandemic, I’ve pretty much gone about my business as I did beforehand. The exception being the first couple of months when everything basically shut down.

Did he say what the issue is? Why they’re so backed up?
I'm seeing a lot of delays on LTL shipments with my main carrier.

I won't name them but they're arguably one of the best.

Shipments that normally take a week, for example, have been taking 3 to 4 weeks... been using them for 10 years and until this year it had never happened but now it is happening about half the time unless I pay a higher rate for Priority service.

Not sure why that is happening, they never explain, Could be due to a shortage of drivers.

I had a load picked up in Natchez on Thursday which normally would have delivered to my warehouse the very next day but I was told on Friday "It's stuck in Shreveport - Emergency Delay!"

Had another one I shipped to a long-term customer in New Hampshire recently; they get a load from me every 2 months like clockwork, and typically it's a 1-week transit. Two weeks in and I find the trailer has been sitting in the same station in NJ for a week! Talked to someone at the NJ terminal and they told me "We're waiting on the next station, at such-and-such NY, to send a driver to pick that trailer up... why don't you call that station in NY and ask them to please send a driver..." Which I did, and that trailer was moving again the next day! Unbelievable.

Not enough workers to unload the ships.
There may be a bottleneck in the drayage area as well. Local regulations have mandated that trucks older than I think 5 years are no longer allowed access to port area for “climate“ reasons, putting some smaller carriers out of business I’m sure and forcing others to buy new trucks just to continue having access to port related business.
