Commodity shortages

It's almost like these people are acting in concert or something. No way they could be so stupid as to further screw up the supply chain by taking almost 100,000 trucks off the road.

California Is Single-Handedly Making The Supply Chain Crisis Even Worse

I think it's more to the problem that a government agency is creating laws without the consent of the Legislature. Much like the EPA does.

Unfortunately, there's really no way around it except to take it to court and hope for the best.

California has always been one of the worst states for truckers . There’s a list and California is always #1. Mostly it’s the rule of thumb , as California goes , the rest of the country will see some form of it . Ohio is also not trucker friendly , but I think that’s more about the money than the political winds blowing .

Just saw a conspiracy theorist family member post on Facebook about these food plants around the country having accidents and fires. She said the elites are going to starve everyone…

Not sure what to believe and not believe.

I’d probably not worry about that angle too much.

Just think..That tiny sub-component that is manufactured in CCP goes into a larger component and into a larger component and nothing gets shipped. Take something an innocuous as a ball bearing, and eerily reminiscent of less complex components in WW2 and the air attacks on German factories, but yet the same.

We are screwed and yet just gave up 4 years of any hope. Trump should of tripled the tariffs. Now when the CCP gets a cold, America has the flu. pun intended.

I recall in the 90s when 2 GM brake plants went on strike. Can't build the cars without brakes and eventually almost all GM production went offline and that trickled through the supply chain. It was estimated that 1.5% of GDP went offline due to a couple hundred workers striking.

I get it..but relying on our near peer adversary does not make me feel any better. They can manipulate us now in Pharma, chips, or anything really. Back in that day we had real brake pad leaders.

Second time this year stopped at a quick service oil change place and they didn’t have the oil in stock to do the service.

How is this supposed to work? Shortages, inflation, etc..well that will make America pay (literal) attention. If the vags want to hang their hat on abortion, go right ahead.

I told my neighbor (he just turned 90) that I was an optimist because I have enough engine oil in stock for the next 100k miles and my car has 400k miles on it.

He told me that is nothing, he drives 3k miles a year and his tires have a 75k mile warranty.

Where are we on refinement capacity? What is the impetus that's causing gas to as expensive at ~$100 a barrel as it was when it was at ~$200 a barrel in the Bush years?

Lease moratorium has been listed. Federal land moratorium has been lifted. Strategic reserves have been tapped. Something smells fishy.

The lease moratorium being lifted is a farce.

Refining capacity is almost maxed and it's impossible to build a new refinery (plus why invest the money when we're supposed to eliminate FFs soon).

Did a little digging after asking my question. Turns out that refinery capacity is down worldwide. Here's a decent overview
Why Are So Many Oil Refineries Closing?

Also, I have to agree with everyone who has expressed concern or curiosity over the electric vehicle phenomenon. That electricity to charge them has to come from somewhere, and the useless toxic husks of dead batteries will have to go somewhere soon. I'm pro-nuclear. We can do it safely and wide-scale.

Refineries are likely having to shutdown or reduce capacity because they are transitioning from the EPA mandated winter blend to summer blend for fuel/gasoline/diesel.

Its not fishy. It's just something that happens during every change of seasons.
