Commodity shortages

Refineries are likely having to shutdown or reduce capacity because they are transitioning from the EPA mandated winter blend to summer blend for fuel/gasoline/diesel.

Its not fishy. It's just something that happens during every change of seasons.

There isn't a summer diesel blend.

Spent the morning looking for Gentleman Jack because I haven't seen any 750ml or 1 liter bottles in over a month. Liquor store lady said that apparently the distributor had gotten hacked and was a victim of ransomware. So instead of the distributor paying the ransom, they decided to just turnover to a new system and are in the process of converting all of it over, which makes it hard to take orders, schedule deliveries, make payments, etc. I just did a Google search and couldn't find anything recently, but did find something from 2020. Its also likely that this woman was told this by the distributor as a cover for something else. Who knows.

I loathe everything about this idiotic, tone deaf tweet.

La Leche League almost pushed my wife to the breaking point. We spent hundreds on coaching and compounded supplements and pumping and nothing worked.

Formula isn't a convenience for many, it's a life saver.
For many? Really? When you say "for many", do you mean 80% of women? 60% of women? 30%?

Everything I’ve seen says somewhere between 50% and 75% of parents use formula. It depends on if you’re talking about exclusive formula use or supplemental use. It also depends on if you’re talking about the first 3 months after birth, or 6 months, or 12 months, etc. It is a significant number regardless.

Apparently the FDA or USDA shut down a plant that made 40% of the countries baby formula over health concerns due to suspected bacterial infection, which I'm fine with. What they neglected to do was come up with a plan to replace the formula or reopen the plant in a timely manner, and here we are today. This falls on the administration and their lack of having a damn clue what they're doing.

If you’re fine with shutting down the production, how would you address replacing nearly half the market supply over night?

It didn't need to be done overnight, but they could have notified the other suppliers and told them we need as much as you can make as soon as possible. They could have asked Canadian suppliers to supply us with as much as they could, they could have asked Abbott what would it take to get this plant cleaned and re-opened ASAP. There are a lot of things that this country can do to mobilize resources when needed, the Biden front line idiots just are cognitively as empty as he is.

We have a country with some of the most brilliant economic minds in the world, and the goobers in DC are so busy pretending to play party pattycake to make use of them.

Their incompetence knows no bounds.

I realize a majority of mothers nowadays use formula. That isn't the question I'm asking. I asking how many are really in need of formula that cannot breast feed? There is simply no way I'm believing that 50% of women can't breast feed.

Apparently you've never had any kids. From what I've read 75% of women today breast feed and the other 25% can't for some medical reason, or they just don't want to. Once women have a baby they get medicine that stops their milk production if they are going to use formula. A tit is not a machine that can be turned on and off to supply milk to babies. This is a serious issue for women that have babies on formula.
