Confederations Cup U.S -v- Spain

Beat Brasil. Rematch time (assuming South Africa does not pull of upset). Going to miss Bradley severely at the center mid position. I expect Landon to move to center mid and Beasley to take Landons spot at left mid. What a win though! Let's hope we got enough in the tank for Sunday.

No let us all pray that BB has learned to not put Beasley or Klejston in until they earn their spots on the national team. I would rather see feilhaber, torres, or Adu start for Bradley. My preference is Feilhaber, ricardo clark is more of a CDM and I believe that Feilhaber's attacking ability will compliment his style well.

Awesome result. And just a few days ago I was hoping for points against Egypt. Now I'm hoping for a title. It will be tough, but not any tougher than it was to get to the final after losing the first two games. Hopefully we can make a meaningful run next year.

I wasn't able to watch the game, but how did the US look throughout? I only saw the goals, and we seemed lucky to be able to get them. (not that it matters) Casillas seemed lost on those two.

Well, I watched to replay and Spain was pounding us. We had something like 4 shots to Spain with 12 or something like that. They controlled the middle 3rd the entire game and just could not put it in the net. To our credit, Howard was awesome in goal and we played good, not great, d inside our def third. Our goals were from good runs but we are still a long ball team and don't really move the ball well on the ground. None the less, a great win for the US. And the screw Dearstone this morning and the callers that bashed the win and called it meaningless.

Dearstone is an old fossil who needs to get the f*** off of the air.

he's just mad his kid was too fat to ever get past HS JV in any sport.

Anyway, the local sports show here did the same thing. He got a couple of calls about it and said he didn't want to discuss a sport that was "irrelevant in the country". His next segment was on the upcoming season of ODU women's basketball.

Just a touch of irony there, don't ya think?

This... Beasley is a defensive liability and he doesn't provide enough offense for him to warrant playing time. Torres is who should start in Bradley's position, but I have a bad feeling were going to see Beasley let another ball roll under his foot on a corner kick again.

Yeah i'd like to see Feilhaber get the start as well. He did really well when he came in in the second half.

“In all sincerity, only one time in 10 do I think we would lose against them,” Spain captain Iker Casillas said Thursday.

Yep, Casillas you're probably right. But this was our one time

But if he doesn't make that mistake, which he shouldnt do as 90% of people think hes the best keeper in the world, USA cant afford to sit back like they did for aslong, leaving them wider open to spains passing attack for longer. Although you may still have scored a 2nd it makes it alot less likely as Spain can play a different style and not have to be as pressing and play their normal style.

Exactly. Being two goals down as opposed to one changes strategy completely. Men forward as opposed to mid or back.

well i guess im in the 10% cause i dont think he's the best keeper in the world.

yeah i understand that first goal changed the tide of the game, and the second was his defences fault, but you cant say with all the shots spain had that its all his fault.

I haven't watched him or enough international soccer/European club soccer to make an informed decision on Casillas, but he looked very unimpressive against the USA.

He came way out to get balls he probably should have let his sweeper collect, he didn't come up on balls that appeared to be his, and in general looked like he came out flat.

I realize that was the worst Spain has looked in years, though.

Just me, but I don't think he wrote that he thought the second goal was the keepers fault. That was out and out the defenders screw up. You get rid of the ball in front of the net. No time lolly gag around as he did.
