300 was a movie based on a graphic novel by frank miller. of course it's not going to be historically accurate. i don't understand why people act so surprised that it had ficticious elements in it. it's based off a COMIC BOOK

Raging Bull was not overrated....

I thought it was, but maybe I have a somewhat jaded opinion. I had a "History of Film" class in college with a professor that thought it was possibly the greatest movie ever made. I appreciated the artistic merit in the film, but I didn't really like it, and certainly would not rate it as highly as he did, hence my characterization as overrated.

Nobody heard of it like 6 or 7 years ago. I have a feeling most people know it by now. I saw it a couple of years after it was released and its been one of my favorites ever since.

I concur. I think most people have heard of it now. And it was incredibly over-hyped. I enjoyed it but it wasn't worth all the effort my friend put into convincing me to watch it.
